This week, Christina Aguilera announced a residency in Las Vegas.
The 42-year-old singer confirmed that the spectacular series of shows would begin on New Year’s Eve weekend, and she shared the news with a striking new portrait of herself sporting a short blonde haircut.
Christina took to social media to share behind-the-scenes footage from the session, and she appeared decades younger in the breathtaking video.
The Genie at A Bottle singer will perform at the Voltaire Belle de Nuit at Sin City’s Venetian Resort.
Christina will perform all of her biggest bangers, old and new, during the lavish gigs at the’seductively intimate’ venue.
Of the mega exciting venture, the A-lister told Billboard: ‘I look forward to bringing Las Vegas a new show that fuses music, sophistication and art in ways I have never performed before.’
The superstar singer added: ‘What I love about the intimacy at Voltaire at The Venetian Resort is how up-close-and-personal I can be with the audience … a truly modern twist on the performance experience.’
In an Instagram post announcing the announcement, Disney star Christina said: ‘Immerse yourself in the confluence of art and music, I’m bringing an intimate, sexy and sophisticated new show to Las Vegas.
‘@voltairelv will allow me to be up-close-and-personal with YOU for a truly modern twist on the performance experience.’
Christina’s announcement coincides with the 21st anniversary of her *iconic* single Beautiful (is anybody else feeling very old right now?).
The huge single is perhaps one of the star’s most recognisable songs, alongside Dirrty, Lady Marmalade, and Fighter, all of which she will undoubtedly play at her Vegas residency.
Christina released her debut studio album, Genie In A Bottle, in 1999, and it yielded the smash songs Genie In A Bottle, What A Girl Wants, and Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You).
In 2021, the A-lister received the prestigious Music Icon Award at the People’s Choice Awards, and in her acceptance speech, she thanked her fans while also expressing her desire that her music inspires people.
‘I have always strived for my music to communicate messages of empowerment, whether it’s speaking my own truths or giving voice to those unable to do so on their own,’ she told the audience.
‘My artistry has always been for the fighters in this world, for those who face adversity, for those wanting to evoke change, my music is for you.’
Christina stated that she has heard from people about the great impact her songs, ranging from Beautiful to Dirty, had on them and thanked them for their experiences.
She concluded by saying that her followers inspire her every day and urging everyone to believe in themselves.
