Danny Cipriani’s ex-wife Victoria claims he publicly announced their divorce “without prior notice.”
Victoria, 42, a mental health activist, noted that Danny’s decision has caused her “a great deal of pain.”
Danny and Victoria announced their divorce earlier this month, after two years of marriage.
After just 11 months of dating, the couple married in a modest ceremony in April 2021.
Taking to Instagram, Danny wrote: ‘Victoria and I sat together this weekend and agreed to separate after 4 years of marriage.’
He notably appeared to get the length of their marriage wrong.
He added: ‘Whilst we’ve had some wonderful times together, we’ve also recognised we’re on different journeys and whilst this is sad news, it’s also a new chapter for us both to pursue our own happiness. I only wish the best for Victoria and her children.’
However, Victoria has now said in a social media post that she was ‘made aware of the situation at the same time as the public’.
The post has since been deleted but according to MailOnline, she said in full: ‘Danny publicly announced our split without any prior notice or discussion with me. I was made aware of the situation at the same time as the public, and this has caused me a great deal of pain.
‘I apologise if my reactions and responses have seemed reactive or emotionally charged.’
Victoria added: ‘The truth is, I am still going through a difficult time, and it is challenging for me to see Danny speaking about our separation publicly while I have not yet found the strength to process it, adjust or heal.
‘I really don’t want to be caught up in the fanfare. Sorry for any hurt I have caused.’
When Danny originally announced their breakup, a source close to the pair informed the magazine that they split two weeks before the news due to some ‘tough disagreements’ over texts discovered on the sportsman’s phone.
‘Victoria had been increasingly unhappy over the last few months,’ the insider said.
They continued to MailOnline: ‘Things got tense and then she saw some text messages on his phone and it led to some difficult rows between them and they have now split up.’
According to the insider, Danny had moved out of the couple’s Kent house but had been visiting since their divorce.
It comes after Victoria addressed revelations about Danny’s ex-wives in his novel Who Am I?Kirsty Gallacher, 47, and Kelly Brook, 43.
Among several shocking charges, he said that following their divorce, he and Kelly went on a covert vacation to Mauritius when she was seeing another rugby player Thom Evans.
Sharing a selfie of the pair on Instagram, Victoria wrote: ‘I find myself repeatedly being questioned about my feelings regarding my husband’s exes being news. I don’t feel any way about it; it’s his life, and it’s all relevant and brought him to where he is today.
‘Also, he’s not mentioned anything that isn’t already public knowledge; he’s also never spoken about it publicly.
‘I sincerely hope that this spotlight doesn’t cause any discomfort or negative emotions for the women involved. It is important to note that Danny is not the type of person to talk derogatorily about others.
‘However, the newspapers selectively focus on what they perceive as the most sensational aspects rather than presenting a balanced perspective.
‘This book is a raw and intense account of the rollercoaster journey that Danny has experienced, and I implore readers to reserve judgment until they have had the opportunity to read it in its entirety.
‘Only then can a comprehensive understanding of his personal growth and experiences be gained. I hope you have a fantastic day.’
