It is common knowledge that Dave Grohl is one of the nicest men in rock and roll, but in case anyone had any doubts, it has recently come to light that he spent 16 hours preparing and cooking food for 450 individuals who are without homes.
On Wednesday, the leader for Foo Fighters went out on the streets of Los Angeles, joining up with a charity to serve a hot (and what appeared to be a wonderful) barbeque feast for about 500 persons.
Rowan Vansleve, CFO of Hope the Mission, took to Instagram to share how Dave Grohl had generously donated his time and cooking prowess to assist the organisation in meeting their needs. Hope the Mission is a non-profit organisation that offers shelter, food, medical, and hygiene services to those who are in need in the area.
In the middle of their 350-mile run to end homelessness, Ryan wrote: ‘And in the middle of our 350 mile run to end homelessness, we got the coolest video ever from Dave Grohl, of the Foo Fighters.’ Ryan uploaded a video of the rock star, who was 54 at the time, getting involved in the preparation, cooking, and serving of his barbecue meals.
‘Not only did I wish us luck, but he cooked for hundreds of people who live in our shelters in the middle of one of the worst storms.’
‘Nothing but love and respect for Dave,’ he added.
Grohl and the committed staff were shown getting their hands dirty in the kitchen as they prepared ribs, coleslaw, cabbage beans, and brisket in the video of their mammoth dinner preparation, which was set to the song “My Hero” by the Foo Fighters.
There were also some great photos of the guitarist strutting his stuff in front of the camera, proudly demonstrating his mastery of the art of meat-cooking, which was very appropriate.
Grohl and Vansleve both addressed the camera at one point, with Grohl applauding people who were participating in the fundraising run for Hope the Mission.
‘What’s up you guys? You finished 15 miles today – congratulations! Tomorrow’s another beautiful day, keep it up!’
After revealing that he and the crew had been “out here all night cooking,” he continued in the enthusiastic manner that is typical of him by saying, “We’re all in guy.” You’ve all committed, and so have we. Keep going!’
According to TMZ, Grohl was the one who paid for everything, including the meat smoker, and he “managed all the bills himself.” During the 16 hours that the meat was being smoked, Grohl reportedly got some sleep “here and there.”
With the unexpected passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March of last year, Grohl and the Foo Fighters have announced that their first big performance after his passing will take place later this year.
When their cherished bandmate of over three decades passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50 in his hotel room in Bogota in 2022, the rock band endured what has been described as their “most trying and terrible year.”
In September, they organised two breathtaking tribute concerts in his memory, one in London and one in Los Angeles. These concerts were supported by some of their closest rock friends, including Sir Brian May, Sir Paul McCartney, Liam Gallagher, and Supergrass, who were acknowledged as Hawkins’ “favourite band.”
The Foo Fighters have just announced that they will perform a headlining set at Boston Calling 2023, which will take place on the final weekend of the month of May.
