On Monday night, David Walliams and Matt Lucas were all grins as they attended Sir Elton John’s London show.
The Little Britain co-creators smiled for the camera while wearing trademark Sir Elton-style goofy sunglasses, which were popular among fans gathered at the O2 stadium for the legend’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
Matt, 49, and David, 51, have known each other for a long time, but their friendship hasn’t always been easy.
After a rough journey of being at odds, the comic pair quit communicating in 2011 after making it famous in 2003 with the now-controversial sketch show TV series Little Britain.
In his autobiography Little Me, Matt described how the duo would frequently bicker about little matters, which would grow into fights.
One particular disagreement involved David’s facial hair and it left the comedians ‘hurling obscenities at one another,’ Matt explained.
But it’s good news for fans, as ever since the pair patched things up in 2018 when they attended the funeral of a mutual friend Dale Winton, they have remained on good terms.
So much so that, in addition to being lifelong writing partners, they frequently attend shows together – albeit David didn’t let the occasion pass without poking fun at his buddy.
‘I always make time to meet my fans, even during an @eltonjohn concert. A bit tragic but he asked me to tag him @realmattlucas’, the ex-Britain’s Got Talent judge wrote alongside the picture of the pair grinning.
This comes after the former Bake Off star hinted in December that the two were writing again.
He merely wrote ‘Writing’ beside a photo of the comedic team seated in front of their laptops, implying they may be collaborating again.
Both actors now have more free time on their hands after leaving their normal jobs.
David was removed from his job as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent after he made some nasty comments about a contestant, while Matt resigned his role hosting The Great British Bake Off alongside Noel Fielding to free himself up for ‘other ventures’.
‘It’s become clear to me that I can’t present both Fantasy Football League and Bake Off alongside all my other projects,’ he explained.
