So Dwayne The Rock Johnson may run for President of the United States.
With each passing year, it was only a matter of time before a WWE star ran for President of the United States, and it appears like The Rock will be the one to do so.
A 2021 poll indicated that over half of Americans would support the Jumanji star if he ever entered politics, and Dwayne has now stated that he has been contacted by various parties urging him to run.
The world-famous pro wrestler-turned-actor revealed that at the end of last year, ‘I got a visit from the parties asking me if I was going to run – and if I could run.’
He claimed he was’really honoured’ by the results of the 2021 election, and had previously stated that he intended to ‘unite’ America by running for president.
The actor refused to say which political parties approached him about running for office, although it appears that more than one did.
‘It was a big deal, and it came out of the blue. It was one after the other, and they brought up that poll, and they also brought up their own deep-dive research,’ he told What Now? with Trevor Noah podcast.
In 2021, he told Sunday Today with Willie Geist: ‘I do have that goal to unite our country and I also feel that if this is what the people want, then I will do that.’
He had declined at the time to say which party he would represent – but wrote on Twitter: ‘Not sure our Founding Fathers ever envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny pack wearing guy joining their club – but if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve the people.’
Dwayne Johnson isn’t the only actor interested in running for President; Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger has already stated that he would love to run – and believes he would win.
The former bodybuilding champion served as Governor of California and aspires to the president of the United States, but he is ineligible since he was born outside of the country.
In an interview in June, he said he ‘absolutely’ wanted to run for president, because ‘it’s a no brainer.’
‘I see so clearly how I could win that election.’
He continued to Who’s Talking with Chris Wallace: ‘I mean, it’s like me and California. And when that was, you know, running for governor, it was clear that people are looking for some new answer, not a right wing or left wing, but someone that can bring the nation together.
‘There’s just so many things that need to be done. And can be done. And what makes it so wonderful is because it’s doable.
‘It’s all doable, or at least it’s just people coming together and say yes, we can do it.’
