This morning on Radio 2, Zoe Ball and Fatboy Slim had an embarrassing moment when Zoe forgot to disclose their 17-year marriage.
The 59-year-old British artist and DJ, whose actual name is Norman Cook, went by Zoe’s morning programme on the BBC station to talk about the Glastonbury festival in 2023.
However, when Zoe presented him, she initially forgot the moniker ‘Fatboy Slim,’ and was then chastised by him for failing to clarify that he is her ex-husband.
‘I now welcome to the show somebody you may remember from The Housemartins, Pizzaman, err… Beats International?’ stated Zoe while introducing him.
She then burst out laughing live on TV before eventually addressing Norman and acknowledging her gaffe: ‘I forget what you were called back then!’ Sorry!’
Norman responded with, ‘And such things as our marriage!’ – a statement Zoe repeated before finally identifying him as Fatboy Slim.
After exchanging a few more jokes, she stated that her listeners are already well aware that she can be “very unprofessional at times.”
Zoe then said that the interview was the first time the couple had ‘had a natter in front of a microphone’ since their divorce in 2016.
Norman had a run of top five hits, including number one Praise You, when the pair married in 1999, at the height of their respective careers.
Zoe was hosting Top of the Pops during the time of their relationship and became the first woman to anchor the Radio 1 breakfast show on her own in 1998.
To commemorate their reunion, the Right Here Right Now hitmaker listened to a clip of his and Zoe’s first encounter on live radio in the 1990s.
They were married for 17 years and had two children – son Woody, 22, and daughter Nelly, 13 – before announcing their divorce “with tremendous grief.”
Recently, Rita Ora remixed Norman’s number one smash Praise You for a new song of her own, Praising You, which peaked at number 13 on the UK Download Chart.
