Harrison Ford may have just received a lifetime achievement award, but the public have voted him the finest Cannes Film Festival meme.
The Hollywood veteran stole the show at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, receiving an honorary Palme d’Or for lifetime accomplishment during the screening of Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny.
This was the legend’s sixth time playing Indiana, and he was accompanied this time by Fleabag actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who portrayed Indiana’s goddaughter, Helena Shaw.
So the 80-year-old walked the red carpet with his wife of 13 years, Calista Flockhart, 58, looking as enamoured as ever.
But one photo in particular had viewers swooning over the cute couple, and it was shot before Harrison and Calista braved the masses.
Harrison appeared to think his wife looked very fantastic as she stood in a gorgeous mesh and velvet black gown, while he observed her in wonder.
Harrison’s admiring face expression, which is a comical mix of amazement and adoration, has made him an instant meme.
Fans were unsurprisingly ecstatic, with one writing, ‘Still absolutely besotted. This is a warm fuzzies type of picture. Very cute.’
Another said: ‘This picture deserves an Oscar.’
‘That’s so cute,’ chimed in another, as someone else commented: ‘He’s so in love with her.’
As if this iconic image wasn’t proof enough that their connection is stronger than ever, Harrison paid tribute to his other half in his victory speech.
Visibly choked up, he said: ‘They say before you die, you see your life flash before your eyes, and I just saw my life flash before my eyes. A great part of my life, but not all of my life.
‘My life has been enabled by my wife, who supported my passion and my dreams, and I’m grateful.
‘You’ve given my life purpose and meaning, and I’m grateful for that. So grateful.
‘I’m deeply moved by this honor … But I’ve got a movie you’ve got to see, it’s right behind me so let me get out of the way.’
They dated for a decade before married in 2010, and they have one adopted son, Liam, 22.
