It’s been 12 years since Harry Potter first appeared on our screens, yet this actress looks nothing like her wizarding days.
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint rose to prominence as the core naughty Hogwarts gang, led by Daniel Radcliffe, who recently admitted to reading fan fiction about himself.
Other characters cemented themselves as Harry Potter royalty over the years, with Neville Longbottom stealing an epic moment in the final film (if you know, you know) and Ginny Weasley – despite not having a lot to play with – being a pretty badass member of Dumbledore’s Army in the fifth film.
With her forlorn demeanour and soft-spoken voice, one fan favourite adds some serious comedic relief to the action-packed tale – yet she looks completely different today.
Evanna Lynch, who plays Luna Lovegood, a bewildered but unexpectedly smart Ravenclaw, is shown below.
The Irish actress, now 32, is trying for a different image than her previous role, Luna, who was known for her signature long, white-blonde hair. The actress has subsequently switched to short, brown hair and looks stunning.

Despite her airy-fairy demeanour, one of Luna’s defining moments occurs in the last film during the final wizarding fight, when Harry is hurrying to acquire an object that can aid in the defeat of adversary Voldemort.
We see the titular figure racing by pupils who are hurrying around in a frenzy in preparation for Voldemort’s arrival at Hogwarts.
Luna follows Harry, aware that he is searching in the wrong area for her Rowena Ravenclaw’s lost diadem, which holds the secret to Voldemort’s annihilation.
‘Harry!’ she calls out to him, but the wizarding hero waves her away, assuming she is distracting him from his mission.
‘Harry Potter, you listen to me!’ she bellows. Luna explains how he is going the wrong way, and says – obviously, duh – he needs to ask a ghost where it is.
In classic Potter fashion, the underappreciated character saves the day. Hurrah.
Evanna has performed in films, television series, and theatre projects since the end of the Harry Potter franchise in 2011.

She also authored a memoir in which she discussed her difficulties with anorexia and celebrity.
Evanna exposed the truth about living in 2020 when Potter fell short of her ‘overblown’ expectations.
‘Sometimes I’ll meet [fans] at conventions and at plays, and I’ll meet them after that and they’ll be like, “Why are not you doing blockbuster movies” and I’m like, “Yeah, why am I not? I don’t know, I just didn’t feel like it, that’s all”,’ she said.
‘They have no concept of how cutthroat the industry is.’
It was discovered in August that the performer, who became a beloved figure despite appearing in only four of the eight films, had a secret affair with another Harry Potter actor.
She dated co-star Robbie Jarvis, who played James Potter, for many years and amazingly managed to keep their relationship private.
They met on the set of the fifth film, Evanna having gotten the part the year before at the age of 14, beating out 15,000 other girls. Robbie was 20 years old when he first appeared in the franchise.
They divorced in 2016, and Evanna stated that they were’still friends.’
