Hugh Grant isn’t very complimentary about Drew Barrymore’s voice abilities.
The Notting Hill actor claims to have heard ‘dogs bark better’ than Drew Barrymore in their ‘Music and Lyrics’ flick.
In the 2007 film, the 62-year-old portrayed washed-up singer Alex Fletcher, and stated Drew, 48, had a ‘horrendous’ singing voice as Sophie Fisher, whom he hires to help him compose songs for his comeback duet with a young pop sensation.
Hugh Grant was recently asked in an interview, “Does Hugh Grant truly sing in Music and Lyrics?”
He responded that it was definitely him singing in the film, but with some assistance (also, if anybody recalls Hugh attempting to sing in 2002’s About A Boy, the Hollywood star needed all the assistance he could get!)
‘Yes, well I do, but I’m auto-tuned beyond belief. Actually, that’s not true – I’m auto-tuned a bit, but not as much as some,’ he told Wired Magazine, adding his Charlie Angels co-star would perhaps agree with his description of her singing.
‘Drew Barrymore was in that film with me and I don’t think she’d mind me saying her singing is just horrendous. I’ve heard dogs bark better than she sings.’
Hugh admitted Drew’s singing improved after, ‘they tuned her up’, and added the 48-year-old star sounded much better than him once this was done anyhow: ‘She sounded way better than me because she’s got heart and voice and rock ’n’ roll.’

Meanwhile, the Wedding Singer actress was all smiles when she took to Instagram on Thursday to share a clip of her singing Way Back Into Love from Music and Lyrics with the caption: ‘#SingForHughGrant JOIN ME.’
After showing off her vocals, she addresses Grant, saying: ‘Oh Hugh, Bert, Hubert, that’s for you.’
Following his embarrassing red carpet meeting with Ashely Graham at the Oscars last weekend, the Four Weddings and a Funeral actor drew condemnation. He was one of the celebrities that attended the annual Hollywood celebration hosted by comedian and presenter Jimmy Kimmel.
Yet, his interview with the 34-year-old supermodel was dubbed “the most embarrassing moment” since Will Smith memorably smacked Chris Rock at last year’s Academy Awards over a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair.
The Hollywood heavyweight tried to conceal his boredom and answered most questions in three words or fewer.
The perplexing interaction prompted a schism online, with several people tweeting: ‘Why was Hugh Grant so rude?? Thanks to Ashley for keeping the dialogue going. / getting through that’ or ‘why even go?’
The supermodel shrugged it off however, saying: ‘My mama told me to kill people with kindness.’
