Hugh Jackman’s admirers were distracted by’sad’ elements in the backdrop of the star’s most recent selfie, which followed his breakup from wife Deborra-Lee Furness.
The couple, who have two children, were married for 27 years before announcing their separation last September.
Hugh, 55, the actor of Deadpool and Wolverine, has since moved to New York City to live alone.
On Tuesday, he posted a photo of himself dressed up for the 2024 Met Gala, looking smart in black tie.
‘Let’s go #MET,’ he wrote in the caption, referring to the swanky annual fundraiser he attended last year with his then-wife – but his followers couldn’t help but comment on the background of his photo.
The Oscar contender posed in front of a window that he frequently posts about on social media, as well as his apartment’s plain white walls.
However, the photo revealed that he had items on the floor behind him, including a stack of books, bowls, an unhung portrait, and an exercise mat.
‘Hugh needs to furnish his apartment/townhouse. Poor guy. Looks handsome, though,’ observed @vegaslady42.
Jennifer Harris then advised: ‘There’s these places that sell side tables and wall units. I think it could really help you with lifting the vibe of the room. Oh and nice suit!’
However, others defended the actor, questioning if he was definitely leaving there fulltime as Judy Nixon suggested: ‘It’s probably his style, is this place.’
‘Don’t look now but someone stole your coffee table,’ quipped @louisajoydykstra.
The Australian star previously acknowledged to a dishwasher ‘accident’ while ending production on his final film as Wolverine in the United Kingdom last year.
He indicated to his followers that he was suffering with the domestic duty just days after his separation was announced by posting a photo of his machine full with plastic containers and overflowing with soap suds.
Alongside Deborra-Lee, 68, he released a statement at the time, speaking of how they felt ‘blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage’.
‘Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,’ it continued.
‘Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.
‘We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.’
The couple adopted two now-adult children: Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18.
Hugh Jackman’s return to the X-Men role that catapulted him to global fame, with co-star and real-life buddy Ryan Reynolds, has sparked widespread excitement among fans.
It is his twelfth time (depending on how you count the cameos) sporting the character’s sideburns, claws and rippling muscles, which the star worked hard to acquire once more – however some cynical fans wondered if he was wearing a ‘latex muscle suit’ when the teaser dropped.
However, Deadpool comic book creator Rob Liefeld was having none of these rumours, taking to X with the ultimate defence of the star.
‘Hey, I was right there in person and those massive Hugh Jackman biceps are the REAL DEAL,’ he wrote.
‘Dude was jacked!! I’ve been seeing folks talk of him wearing fake muscles… WHAT??? No. I touched em!’ the author added.
