In an unprecedented move, Jeremy Clarkson has announced a product recall for his cider.
On Friday night, the former Top Gear host, 63, turned to Twitter and opened his message with a litany of expletives – 6 f**ks to be exact – before warning buyers that some bottles of the wine may ‘explode.’
‘There’s been a big blunder, and as a result, there’s a very tiny risk that some of our Hawkstone CIDER bottles could, there’s no nice way of expressing this, explode,’ the Clarkson’s Farm actor said.
‘If the cap has the code L3160, open it underwater, pour it away and get in touch for a refund.
‘Really sorry about this but on the upside, the beer is fine and still delicious. As is the cider, in bottles that are unaffected. Which is almost all of them.’
The beverages brand debuted in 2021, with the majority of its ingredients sourced straight from Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm in Chipping Norton.
Diddly Squat is the topic of Clarkson’s Farm, which follows Jeremy as he learns the ins and outs of his 1,000-acre enterprise in the Cotswolds.
Hawkstone revealed on Instagram that the problem is due to ‘a little proportion’ of the cider ‘over fermenting.’
The brand also said: ‘Take a photo of the caps and we will send you a fresh batch or a refund.’
Clarkson’s latest Amazon series sees the farm obtain additional animals and crops, as well as becoming involved in planning talks with the local municipality.
Jeremy, who bought the farm in 2008 and took over management in 2019, encountered a negative reception from several people when he attempted to expand the company with a farm shop and restaurant.
A third season will follow another year at the farm.
Jeremy now co-hosts the Amazon Prime TV series The Grand Tour alongside former Top Gear co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May, as well as presenting the ITV game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
