Katherine Ryan has acknowledged that her husband was made uneasy by her candid chat with Louis Theroux.
The 39-year-old comic chatted with the famed documentarian in November for his Louis Theroux Interviews… series, in which she opened up about her life and career, including accusing the television industry of concealing a secret.
Mum-of-three Katherine informed Louis that a certain male celebrity with whom she worked on a big TV show was a renowned sexual predator.
‘We’ve seen what happens to the people who talk about alleged predators,’ she told Louis at the time, saying it was ‘dangerous’ for her to speak about it.
Katherine has now stated that taping the interview made her husband nervous, owing in part to the fact that the famous interviewer spent four days with them.
Katherine herself issued a statement following the show, stating that she would not speak about the alleged predator again in order to safeguard women.
Speaking on Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast, she said she ‘loved’ taking part in the interview series, insisting ‘I don’t think you can trick me into revealing something that I didn’t want to reveal.’
‘I thought he was cool, I thought he was brave…I like that he’ll ask me any question, openly,’ she added, as ‘I don’t enjoy small talk.’
‘He asked me some spicy questions, he was with us for four days,’ she recalled, joking: ‘I’m lucky that… I disassociated from how special it is to have Louis Theroux interview you without being in a sex cult.’
While Katherine will ‘answer every question asked of me,’ she added that ‘sadly,’ some questions came up that made her husband little uneasy.
She added: ‘He was a bit like, “oh I don’t really want to talk to Louis, you shouldn’t answer that question, don’t say that on air.”
‘When he saw the edit he was like, “oh God, you talk about spicy things.” I thought oh well. I don’t care.’

Speaking to Louis, she said addressing it was ‘a litigious minefield’ because ‘this person has very good lawyers.’
Katherine continued by stressing that she hasn’t fallen victim to the predator.
‘It’s not really my story to tell,’ she said. ‘No one has perpetrated any sexual assault against me, but this person, I believe very strongly – many people believe very strongly – is an open secret, is a perpetrator of sexual assault.’
Elsewhere during her conversation with Louis, Katherine voiced her opinion that you can be cancelled ‘if you accuse too many men of sexual assault’.
‘Then you’re labelled a trouble maker and people won’t book you anymore,’ she continued.
‘I think it’s more quiet disappearing than cancellation.’
