Katy Perry has made her first public appearance since her ex-husband Russell Brand was accused of rape.
The 38-year-old singer took to Instagram to showcase the latest offering from her Katy Perry Collections shoe line, posed on a scooter while wearing a cowboy-inspired boot.
The doting mum captioned her post: ‘Scootin n bootin [sic].’
Perry also shared the shot on her Instagram stories and X, which was previously known as Twitter.
She has not publicly responded to the shocking allegations levelled against Brand, 48.
Perry, who has a three-year-old daughter with long-term boyfriend Orlando Bloom, began dating Brand in 2009 and married on October 23, 2010, in a spectacular wedding at a tiger sanctuary in India.
However, the couple divorced just 14 months later when Brand notified Perry through text message that he wanted a divorce before she went on stage.
In a rediscovered interview, Perry seems to hint at knowing ‘the actual truth’ about her ex-husband.
‘At first, when I met him, he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they’re like, “I can’t handle the equalness,”‘ she told Vogue in 2013.
She described his attitude towards her as ‘very controlling,’ especially when it came to her touring lifestyle before hinting at deeper issues with Brand and his behaviour.
‘I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth,’ she said. ‘I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day.’
On Saturday night, Channel 4 and The Times collaborated on a Dispatches broadcast in which he faced charges of rape, sexual assault, and controlling and emotionally abusive behaviour.
He refuted the ‘very very serious allegations’ in a video uploaded on his social media channels on Friday night, prior of the programme, as well as in a newspaper expose.
