According to reports, the former One Direction singer fell unwell in Lake Como, Italy, while celebrating his one-year anniversary with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
A source stated the 30-year-old was ‘in a dreadful way’, only weeks after he informed fans he’d had to postpone his debut solo tour due to a nasty kidney ailment.
‘Liam is in a bad way but he’s in the best place he can be and finally doctors will be able to get to the bottom of what is going on,’ the source said.
They continued to The Sun: ‘Naturally he is gutted that his and Kate’s trip to Lake Como has been ruined but at least she was there to help him when he fell ill.
‘Doctors have warned him not to expect to be signed off to go home for at least another six days.’
According to the source, the doctors want to ‘do every test possible to understand the issue’.
According to the report, Liam was brought to A&E in an ambulance before being transferred to a hospital ward for emergency care, where he is anticipated to stay for many days.
Liam announced on his Instagram on August 25th that he was having to postpone his solo tour to South America due to health issues.
‘It’s with a heavy heart that I have to tell you that we have no choice but to postpone my scheduled tour of South America,’ he said in the caption.
‘Over the past week I’ve been in hospital with a serious kidney infection, it’s something I wouldn’t wish on anyone, and doctors orders are that I now need to rest and recover.’
The musician continued: ‘I was beyond excited to come play for you guys. To all of you who have bought tickets: I’m so sorry. We’re working to re-schedule the tour as soon as we possibly can, but for now we will be refunding the tickets – so please look out for updates from your point of purchase.
‘Thanks as always for the love and support, and look forward to seeing you soon.’
Liam celebrated his 30th birthday on August 29, with his girlfriend Kate writing on Instagram to mark the occasion: ’30 never looked so good❤️happy birthday love.’
Kate only three days ago published a photo gallery from Lake Como. When the pair attended the British Fashion Awards together in December of last year, they confirmed their relationship.
