The one and only Lily Allen has undergone a big hair alteration, which took nearly half a day to achieve.
The Not Fair singer, who is married to Stranger Things’ David Harbour, debuted her new mermaid-inspired long hair, which is a far cry from her previous pixie cut.
Lily’s famed short hair may be a thing of the past, as she’s apparently ‘growing out’ the style she debuted at the Glamour Awards a few weeks ago.
Fans were stunned to see her new bright red hair down to her mid-back with a side swept fringe peeking out from behind a black beanie as she took a photo on a New York train station.
Lily, 38, matched her new hairdo with a minimal makeup look that highlighted her lovely complexion and a statement glossy red lip.
While the singer merely captioned her photo with a mermaid emoji, the lady behind the big transformation published a video on TikTok and said it took them 11 hours.
Ester, who runs the chosen salon in New York, began: ‘When Lily Allen hits you in the dms for a custom Ktip install with custom colour, you gotta answer.
‘As a millennial those YouTube music videos raised me and Lily Allen, she was my mother.’
She claimed that the stunning change was a last-minute decision, as the Smile hitmaker had intended to have shoulder length extensions.
They opted to go ‘all in’ and leave the extensions extra long in order to conceal her shorter hair and allow it to grow out quickly, but this presented some complications for her hairdresser.
Lily’s hair was apparently quite thick and short, making the process even more difficult as the hours passed.
Ester added: ‘I don’t think either of us were really prepared for the intensity and the complexity of this install. This was probably the most complex install that I’ve done.’
A viewer commented in disbelief: ‘Excuse me?! THE Lily Allen?!’ to which Ester replied: ‘The ONE and ONLY.’
Fans were loving the transformation over on Lily’s Instagram with one writing: ‘This hair and this lip color?! UNREAL.’
‘Ariel could never 😂,’ joked someone referring to the Little Mermaid vibes.
Another person commented: ‘Absolutely perfect!! This is such a perfect look for you! 👏🏼❤️😍’
Lily now resides in New York with her Marvel husband, about whom she recently spoke on the cover of Grazia – while still sporting her pixie hairstyle.
Their relationship was called into doubt after Lily seemed to unfollow David on Instagram, fueling breakup speculations, but she assured everyone that they are still blissfully married.
She remarked that admirers frequently come over for a photo with the 48-year-old, asking the Grammy winner to take the photograph.
‘They don’t even notice me. I’m just the photographer. No one knows who I am,’ Lily laughed but added: ‘Growing up with the attention that I had in my twenties can lead to, sort of, narcissistic feelings.
‘It’s nice to be in a relationship where somebody else gets all of that attention. It’s good for my ego.’
