Recently, Billie Eilish appeared on the Miss Me? podcast with Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver. and, prior to her arrival, emailed the two a “very intense” rider.
Lily Allen said on the next episode of the podcast: ‘I really did cry when the rider came through.’
Compared to Miquita, who said on Good Morning Britain that the rider was “quite passionate” and disclosed her one major demand, Lily’s response to the rider was more emotional.
She clarified that the reason she found Billie’s rider “triggering” was that it brought back memories of her hectic promotional schedule as a pop artist.
The Smile singer said of Billie: ‘She was very sweet, I thought, and very calm. The energy around her, the same could not be said…’
Lily continued: ‘It was funny for me because I’ve never seen that side of it before. It was so weird. We talked about it a bit on the podcast last week but I really did cry when the rider came through, because I guess it was sort of triggering to be around somebody in a promo schedule.
‘I’ve been there countless times in my life. It’s always been very stressful, but I had always felt quite unsupported in those situations for whatever reason, and so it was hard for me to see somebody being treated so well, I guess.. surrounded by people who really were looking out for her best interests and really did care.
‘I felt like, with me it was a free-for-all,’ she continued. ‘Like, “Great! She’s said some sensational s***, let’s farm it out and who cares about what the consequences are for her.” So, it’s nice to see that things have changed, or at least she is being looked after.’
Billie, 22, is a well-known vegan and environmental activist who famously demanded all vegan snacks from the area before her 2022 Glastonbury participation.
However, it appears that the singer has gone a step further with her veganism as her career soars after the May publication of her most recent album, Hit Me Hard and Soft.
On Good Morning Britain, Miquita disclosed that Billie’s rider had several, extremely detailed instructions.
When asked by GMB host Ed Balls about the star’s rider prior to her podcast appearance, Miquita said, ‘Oh well, the rider was a trip I have to say. It was very intense.’
She went on to explain that it’s Billie’s veganism that makes her demands so large.
She continued: ‘But you know, there’s a lot that she needs because she’s a vegan so there was a lot about materials and what she would allow to be around her and not.’
The singer of Bad Guy appears to be requesting that all animal products, including “materials” like leather and other non-vegan goods, be completely eliminated from her presence.
Miquita didn’t seem to have a problem with the demands, continuing: ‘Which is absolutely fine. You know she’s young and there’s like 25 people traveling with her, but she’s very much the calm within her storm and it’s admirable.’
Due to Billie’s admission that she had been severely ghosted by a previous romantic interest, news of her attendance on the podcast has already broken.
In Gen Z culture, the term “ghosting” refers to the inexplicable and abrupt cessation of all communication; apparently, even Grammy winners are not exempt from this painful occurrence.
She said: ‘I’ve been ghosted for sure.’ She continued to say that she found it, ‘literally unbelievable. To this day, [he] never texted me again.’
‘I was like, did you die? Did you literally die?,’ she said.
Eilish clarified that she had arranged things with the nameless love potential, but he never followed through or got in touch with her.
‘It was somebody that I’d also known for years and had a plan, the day of, on the phone, making a plan, this is my address, be there at 3pm – never heard from him again. Ever. I couldn’t believe it,’ she said.
Soon, the singer discovered that he was dating someone else.
She described the hurtful revelation, saying: ‘And I was like “oh.” But I didn’t know people still did that. I genuinely didn’t know people did that.’
