While Madonna was in the intensive care unit after being found unconscious, her boxer lover posted an inspiring remark on Instagram.
Josh Popper, 29, last posted on Instagram two days ago, before learning of his girlfriend’s dangerous bacterial illness, which landed her in the hospital.
While Madonna, 64, was in the intensive care unit, the professional boxer posted a series of images of himself in the ring with an encouraging comment.
He wrote: ‘“Give yourself permission to live a big life. Step into who you were meant to be. Stop playing small. You are meant for greater things”.
‘Thank you to my coach @fftstrong, my family, and the Bredwinners team for being by my side.’
He subsequently posted the photo on his Instagram story, although he hasn’t been active since the world learned of Madonna’s health issue.
Given the encouraging phrase featured, many are wondering if the tweet was related to Madonna.
‘Josh, is Madonna okay? :(,’ asked one concerned fan, while the rest of the comments were from before the announcement about the singer’s health.
For a few months, the boxer has been seeing Madonna, who is 35 years his older, with the singer revealing their relationship in March of this year.
Madonna has been in the hospital since June 24, when she was discovered comatose and required intubation by doctors.
Her sons, Rocco Ritchie, 22, and David Banda, 17, were seen out and about for the first time today, appearing apprehensive as they walked to her New York flat.
Lourdes Leon, 26, is also said to be by her mother’s side and has been since the event.
Madonna has three other children: Mercy (17), Stella (10), and Estere (10).
The singer had been working 12-hour days in preparation for the sold-out gigs that have now been postponed for her celebratory tour.
‘Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected,’ shared manager Guy Oseary.
According to an insider, the family had been ‘preparing for the worst’ and had opted not to reveal the news of Madonna’s illness at first.
‘That is why it was kept a secret since Saturday. Everyone believed that we may lose her, and that has been the reality of the situation,’ they added to Mail Online.
