As Warner Bros Pictures unveiled the teaser for Meg 2: The Trench, fans were ecstatic to witness the return of the action-packed film starring Jason Statham.
The 55-year-old actor resumed his role as Jonas Taylor, who battled the massive megalodon shark in the first film in 2018.
In the most recent trailer for the next sequel, Jason is seen joining up with worldwide action actor Jing Wu, who portrays Wolf Warrior, to take on the enemies.
As many Meg sharks emerged from the depths of the ocean, they continued their job as researchers on a dive to uncover the sea’s bottom.
Their expedition was, however, cut short by a mystery mining activity, which the couple then set out to investigate.
The violent thriller will be released in theatres on August 4th, and it also includes original cast members Sophia Cai, Page Kennedy, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Skyler Samuels, and Cliff Curtis, who was a regular in the Avatar trilogy.

The segment began with a description of the earth’s food chain, and viewers watched as a little bug was eaten by a lizard and developed into something much larger.
A graphic on the screen then displays a message that says, ‘For 65 million years, one species dominated the earth,’ after which a dinosaur leaps out of the woods before the notorious meg shark erupts from the water and devours the dinosaur.
‘We’re detecting increasing aquatic activity 25,000 feet deep in the trench,’ remarked a guy to Jason’s character.

‘It’s an ancient ecosystem untouched by man,’ Cliff’s James ‘Mac’ Mackreides reveals. He continues: ‘Whatever is down there, is trying to make its way to the surface.’
The squad was recorded getting ready to take on the megs as the action ramped up, and the end titles rolled as Jason sought to escape the massive creature’s jaws while driving a jet ski.
Fans online reacted to the footage with one penning: ‘Wow, I can’t wait to see the ultimate prehistoric battle of Megalodon vs T-Rex in The Meg 2: The Trench! It’s going to be jawsome! [sic].’
Another noted: ‘THE MEG 2 looks amazing! I hope this can be our summer franchise for the next 10 years [sic].’
‘Despite what the reviews say I thought the first movie was really fun and I can’t wait for the second one [sic],’ was a Twitter user’s response to the latest movie clip.
Meg 2: The Trench will be released on August 4, 2023.
