Last week, Julie Bowen showed up at a California concert of Harry Styles’ and immediately started taking photos.
The 52-year-old Modern Family star admitted that she had created a sign of her own to bring to the 28-year-old Harry’s concert and that she had not held back.
The lighted, heart-shaped sign stated, “Harry I’m old” on one side and “But I know what I’m doing” on the other. However, many of the ex-One Directioner’s fans were eager to let Julie know how they felt about the news.
The actress captioned her video: ‘I’m here! HARRY!’ and could be heard saying: ‘Harry, I’m here, and I know what I’m doing.’
One of Julie’s 1.7 million Instagram followers said, “this is very humiliating, please stop this,” echoing the sentiments of many others.
And if she was a male and Harry was a young girl, you would not laugh at that statement,” another person wrote on social media.
‘Please don’t do this, even as a joke. Harry and the other boys were sexualised from an early age and he’s always made it clear how much he dislikes it,’ said someone else.
Others, however, brought up the fact that Harry was currently seeing Olivia Wilde, who was ten years older than the As It Was singer.
‘Hey, he was just in a relationship with an older woman…I think you’re in good shape!’ one Instagrammer quipped, with another echoing: ‘Don’t worry, he likes them older.’
Others simply couldn’t see what all the fuss was about, leaving comments like: ‘I found it funny! I can’t believe people’s reaction’ and ‘I support the union.’
Harry and Olivia’s two-year engagement ended in November when it was announced that they had broken up.
Their paths crossed on the production of her film Don’t Worry Darling, which also featured Florence Pugh and was surrounded by rumours of simmering conflict between the filmmaker and her leading lady.
Julie’s three children are from her marriage to Scott Phillips, which lasted from 2004 till 2018.
