According to reports, police conducted a welfare check on Britney Spears after she prompted worry with her newest Instagram video.
Fans were concerned when the Toxic singer released a video on social media earlier this week showing her dancing while throwing two big knives about.
The 41-year-old made it clear in the caption of the film, which is still viewable on her page, that the knives were not genuine, but admirers appeared to be concerned about the post and apparently contacted the police.
According to TMZ, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department got calls from worried fans and dispatched a team to perform a welfare check.
According to a law enforcement source, investigators were able to talk with the mother of two and discovered that she was completely well.
Britney has yet to respond to the claims, although she has previously advised her fans to ‘lighten up’ over the posts.
On Monday night, the Crossroads actress shared the initial video, which saw her showing off her dance moves, while performing with huge knives.
Alongside the footage, she wrote: ‘I started playing in the kitchen with knives today!!! Don’t worry they are NOT real knives!!! Halloween is soon!!!’
In a second video, she appeared to mock supporters’ concerns, writing, ‘Lighten up about the knives, I’m mimicking Shakira!!!’
Britney has had a difficult few months since her shocking divorce from husband Sam Asghari in August, barely 14 months after they married.
This isn’t the first time cops have been summoned to her home for a check, as they were asked to do so in January of this year.
Britney’s loyal fans were left baffled when she deleted her Instagram page without any warning, with some fearing the worst and approaching enforcement officials for help.
Taking to Twitter at the time, the Baby One More Time musician shared a lengthy statement, explaining that her ‘privacy was invaded’ by the move.
‘As everyone knows the police were called to my home based on some prank phone calls,’ she began. ‘I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded.
‘The police never entered my home and when they came to my gate they quickly realized that there was no issues and left immediately.
‘This felt like I was being gaslit and bullied once the incident made it to the news and being portrayed once again in a poor and unfair light by the media.’
‘During this time in my life, I truly hope the public and my fans who I care so much about can respect my privacy moving forward. All the love, B,’ she concluded the post.
