For some time, Regé-Jean Page has been a favourite to succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond, alongside Tom Hardy and Idris Elba.
When questioned about the coveted job in a new interview, the Bridgerton actor made it apparent that he’s been avoiding all the rumours.
In truth, the 34-year-old actor said that the prospect of portraying 007 had not ‘filled his mind’.
Addressing the rumours, Page said: ‘It’s a conversation people are having, and it’s terribly flattering that they’re having it. I leave them to it.’
As for whether he’d accept the role if it was offered to him, Page said in a matter-of-fact manner: ‘I have no idea. It’s not a thing that is fully occupying my thoughts.’
He added to Vanity Fair: ‘I’ve got enough on my plate at the moment. I worry about the work I have, not other people’s jobs.’

Craig left the franchise in 2021 after five appearances as 007, with his tenure in the character dating back to 2006.
Bond producer Barbara Broccoli stated in October that she was aiming to replace Craig by the end of the year, but this does not appear to have occurred.
Broccoli also emphatically rejected that a woman would ever portray Bond.
Producers have also stated that they will be searching for someone who is prepared to make a 10- to 12-year commitment, which is a tall order for any actor.

Page also disclosed the straightforward and unglamorous reason for his Bridgerton departure in a new interview released this week.
When it was revealed that the immensely gorgeous character Simon Basset would not return to Netflix’s Regency-era romance series, which also stars Phoebe Dynevor and Jonathan Bailey, fans were distraught.
Although fans were expecting for a surprise cameo from The Gray Man’s actor, Page stated that there are presently no plans for a character return.
Addressing why he didn’t appear alongside his beloved Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe) in season two, he said: ‘I signed up to do a job and I did the job and then I did some other jobs. That’s it. That’s the story.’
‘I wish it was more glamorous than that,’ he added. Well, there you have it folks.
