Hugh Jackman was praised by Ryan Reynolds, who urged for him to be nominated for an Oscar for his performance in The Son, in a video posted on Wednesday.
For ten years, the Deadpool and Wolverine actors have engaged in a friendly rivalry, making fun of each other at every opportunity.
Ryan’s Christmas movie Spirited had a song that made the 2023 Oscars original song shortlist, and Hugh joked that the Academy should not nominate Ryan because he is not a Marvel actor.
The 46-year-old Ryan ignored the rumoured tension between the two in his video reaction and instead gushed about Hugh’s most recent work.
He began the video clip by acknowledging and addressing the actor’s previous jibe at him, stating: ‘Hey everyone, you know last week Hugh Jackman lovingly asked the Academy to not vote for our song Good Afternoon in the best song category – well I’m not going to stoop to that level.

‘I’m going to rise to the occasion and rise above it all.’
He then started to applaud Hugh, 54, for his work and insisted there was no ‘sarcasm’ involved.
Ryan continued: ‘I loved Hugh’s performance in The Son.
‘There’s zero sarcasm here, no wink-wink, nudge-nudge but Hugh’s performance is literally one of the best of his entire career and his career is very impressive already.
‘He’s already nominated for a Golden Globe so I humbly submit Hugh for your consideration… okay.’

The typically humorous celebrity, who was unable to keep a straight face throughout the entire film, permitted the camera to continue rolling after it had fallen on the floor so that he could address rumours about his Marvel co-stars.
Ryan made fun of the Wolverine actor by criticising the rumoured title for Deadpool 3 that included both characters’ names.
The husband of Blake Lively could be heard saying: ‘Wolverine and Deadpool… you must be kiddin’.
‘Not in your life chappie.’
Hugh, in the new drama, plays Peter Miller, a busy father who has trouble connecting with his sad adolescent son. Hugh was beaten out for the Golden Globe award for best actor by Austin Butler, who played Elvis Presley.
