Britney Spears and Sam Asghari have announced their divorce, but the dancer is reportedly unhappy with his prenuptial agreement.
Britney, 41, has not commented on the news that her 14-month-old husband, Sam, 29, has filed for divorce due to infidelity suspicions.
TMZ broke the news that Sam confronted the superstar over these rumours, leading to arguments and the dancer going to stay in his own home.
Rather than comment on the separation, the Circus singer revealed on Instagram that she is thinking about getting a horse but is having problems picking between two.
It has recently been claimed that Sam is dissatisfied with the prenuptial agreement he signed, which is typical practise in high-profile weddings.
According to Page Six, he is threatening to share ‘extremely embarrassing’ information about Britney with the public unless the agreement is changed.
A prenup is a prenuptial agreement that specifies how assets will be divided if the couple divorces before the wedding.
Before they married 14 months ago, Sam and Britney allegedly had a ‘ironclad’ one in place.
‘[Asghari is] attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid,’ an insider told Page Six.
‘So that’s what Sam is focused on.’
The prenup is assumed to be in Britney’s benefit, preserving her assets prior to their marriage, given the singer has a reputed net worth of $60 million.
It’s unclear what the deal is on whatever Britney made after they married, or how much Sam is apparently renegotiating for.
A source said to be close to Britney refuted the claims of renegotiation to The Daily Mail, calling it ‘absurd’.
They said: ‘[These claims] are absurd and there is no way her attorney, a former federal prosecutor, would ever let anyone ever extort Britney Spears.’
Britney and Sam married in 2022 after meeting on the shoot of the singer’s Slumber Party music video in 2016.
They hit it off immediately, and Sam stayed by Toxic’s side throughout her conservatorship struggle.
Everything appeared to be well between the couple, with Britney often posting on Instagram, one about thinking she was pregnant after waking up nauseated.
The couple did announce their pregnancy, but the’miracle baby’ died early in the pregnancy.
She had released a racy video of herself passionately pole dancing with Nine Inch Nails playing in the background before the separation was publicised.
Britney previously married Jason Alexander and then Kevin Federline, who has custody of their two boys in Hawaii.
