Sarah Michelle Gellar updated followers on her latest medical treatment, admitting she struggled to cope with the intensity of the process.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress, 46, shared a photo with her Instagram followers, claiming the procedure was so painful it was comparable to childbirth.
In a caption, she flashed a toothy grin and revealed the reasons for her aggressive mouth surgery to her admirers.
It read: ‘Last month, after years of being what is known as an aggressive brusher, I had to have dental surgery.
‘A gum graft to be specific. Now I’ve had natural child birth, and this surgery took me down.
‘So now to be smiling this big… is a big deal. That’s all. Oh and take it from me, brush gently.’
The actress posed in a cut-out tight long-sleeved shirt and a wide smile to show off her new gums.
She dolled up her face for the photo shoot and put a pinkish lip tint to her mouth to draw attention to the freshly operated on region.
Fans praised the celebrity in the comments and admired her fresh look post-surgery.
One said: ‘Your recovery scarred me enough to replace my medium brush with a soft one (also, you look amazing).’
Another penned: ‘Great to see you smiling this big’, while a separate social media account joked, ‘I mean look at it as a good thing. At least we all know you brush your teeth’.
Sarah’s confession came only a week after she publicly expressed her admiration for British artist Ed Sheeran after seeing one of his concerts.
The actress stated to her fans that she took her daughter to the singer’s SoFi Stadium concert in Los Angeles as a 14th birthday present.
She captioned a photo with the hitmaker, who threw his arms around Sarah, with a word of gratitude for Ed.

It said: ‘So this is my @teddysphotos appreciation post. First the obvious, in my opinion (and I don’t think it’s an unpopular one) he is the most talented singer songwriter of his time.
‘…He is the definition of a friend, he’s wickedly funny, always knows how to have a good time while still being the hardest worker, he’s an incredible (and dedicated) husband and father, and I’ve never met someone so kind to his fans. (He literally made my daughter and her friends lives for her birthday)
‘I am so lucky to know you Ed. You inspire your friends and your fans. (And as you can see from this pic- he always makes me laugh )…’
