Taylor Swift supporters believe she will feature in Deadpool 3 as a member of the X-Men alongside buddy Ryan Reynolds.
Swifties are obsessed with predicting their idol’s future moves, with the High Infidelity singer teasing her plans with a never-ending stream of Easter eggs and teasers.
Even the most outlandish hypotheses have been confirmed correct, with Taylor revealing 1989 Taylor’s Version precisely when fans expected.
Swifties have been on high alert for any prospective announcements since the end of her US leg of the Eras Tour, with a rumoured scheduled Instagram post stirring rumblings.
One of the most prevalent speculations right now in Swiftland is that Taylor is going to make her Marvel debut in Deadpool 3.
While it may appear to be far-fetched, this is not as absurd as it appears, so grab on to your tinfoil hats as we go headfirst into this Taylor Swift Deadpool 3 hypothesis.
Who could Taylor Swift play in Deadpool 3?
The vocalist of State of Grace is speculated to be playing Dazzler in the upcoming Deadpool movie.
The character, true name Alison Blaire, can generate light and energy beams through sound vibrations and originally joined the X-Men in 1980.
She is a mutant and one of the many X-Men, but she lives a highly public life as a pop diva, singing in front of thousands of people as sparks fly.
Dazzler may seem familiar to long-time Marvel fans because she appeared as a pupil of Professor X in the X-Men spin-off Dark Phoenix in the 1980s.
In the Sophie Turner-led picture, this version was played by Halston Sage rather than the Don’t You hitmaker.
Marvel isn’t concerned with recasting roles, especially for such a brief appearance when there’s a whole universe of options available, so Dazzler having previously debuted isn’t a problem.
Deadpool is even more liberated in this regard because he has not firmly established himself in one reality and has made meta allusions to several incarnations of the X-Men.
Ryan also has a history of including lesser-known X-Men into his films, such as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
Dazzler bears a strong similarity to the blonde singer and even occasionally wears a mirrorball necklace – the first extremely hazy indication being Taylor’s song Mirrorball.
Why do fans think Taylor Swift will be Dazzler?
Okay, we accept the mirrorball is a pretty weak link, so let’s move on to the stronger ones.
First and foremost, Taylor has been publicly dabbling with acting, with credits like The Lorax (2012), Amsterdam (2022), and her eerie performance in Cats (2019).
Swift fans will also recall her performance as the adoring adolescent Felicia in Valentine’s Day (2010), alongside then-boyfriend Taylor Lautner.
Second, she is close friends with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, and she once dressed up as Deadpool for a Halloween party in 2016.
Ryan has a history of incorporating his buddies into Deadpool, much to the delight of fans, as seen by Hugh Jackman’s reappearance as Wolverine.
So this sets the stage for the potential, but this is where things become murky.
Taylor’s directorial debut, All Too Well: The Short Film, is assumed to have been shot in Ryan and Blake’s house, at least in part.
Fans were given the location by matching stained glass windows and bookcases, but Ryan decided to announce Hugh’s homecoming in the living room with the All Too Well hallway as a backdrop.
Untrained swifties may think this is nuts, but Taylor is quite intentional with her Easter eggs and clues, so no relationship can be ruled out.
Ryan addressed these claims last year when they originally surfaced, dismissing the hypothesis but expressing his desire for her to be in the film.
‘Are you kidding me?” he questioned Entertainment Tonight. ‘I would do anything for that woman. She’s a genius.’
This did not deter viewers, since celebrities and others involved in films frequently deny major plot surprises to keep things under wraps.
Rotten Tomatoes’ Erik Davis quoted the hypothesis and added a teasing reminiscence about Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige, adding fuel to the fire.
He wrote: ‘Many years ago I asked Kevin Feige if he were to ever direct his own Marvel movie, which character would he want to focus on.
‘He said Dazzler. He’s a big fan.’
Fans have taken this story as gospel, but with Taylor’s packed itinerary on her sold-out Eras Tour for the next year, it’s a shaky theory.
Would it be ideal casting? Absolutely, but we’re not going to get our hopes up; she’s a genius, but this may be a step too far.
