Shane MacGowan maintains his good attitude while receiving treatment in the hospital.
The Pogues singer has had a number of health problems in the recent year, including being hospitalised around Christmas with the uncommon brain illness encephalitis.
Shane was readmitted to the hospital in June of this year, and while the reason is unknown, it is believed he was sent to critical care for treatment, with his wife Victoria Mary Clarke stating he was in risk of dying.
Thankfully, Shane is on the mend, and while he is still in the hospital, he is stronger than he was – and is receiving some pretty spectacular visitors.
Shane seemed joyful despite his sickness, according to wife Victoria, who posted images of her husband in his hospital bed last week.
Despite being dressed in a hospital gown and having a tube running from his nose, Shane managed a feeble smile for the camera when musical guest Moya Clannad bent over his bed to grab a memorable photo.

Victoria revealed an icon of Irish Celtic music. Moya had been to see the Rainy Night In Soho actor and thanked her for coming, explaining Shane was ‘having some very beautiful visits and it’s a tremendous boost for the morale.’
The visits continued, with a snapshot published this week showing Shane appearing wide-eyed and delighted despite his infirmity, while Victoria announced two more celebrities had paid him a visit.
Both Daniel O’Donnell and Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie had come to see the musician, with Victoria writing to both men: ‘You are so king and thoughtful and it’s so helpful.’
She added: ‘Prayers for everyone who is in hospital! And immensely grateful to all the staff!’

It comes after Victoria expressed ‘love and appreciation’ to everyone who sent messages of support after Shane was admitted to the critical care unit earlier this summer.
The hospitalisation comes after the actor was diagnosed with encephalitis, a potentially fatal ailment that causes the brain to enlarge and can result in loss of mobility and difficulties speaking.
Fans are kept up to date on Shane’s health difficulties and daily life, as Victoria revealed earlier this year that he got a very special visit from none other than Bruce Springsteen.
Victoria recorded the priceless moment on tape, with Shane staring up in wonder at The Boss.
She tweeted: ‘What an amazing honour and a beautiful experience to get a visit from The Boss!!! Such a truly wonderful man and a total genius!’
