Things haven’t been so merry and bright for Tom Fletcher in the run up to Christmas, as he took a trip to A&E.
The McFly singer, 37, is usually pretty active on social media, sharing his latest projects and the antics of his three sons, whom he shares with wife Giovanna Flecher.
But Tom was forced to take some time off when an eye condition left him bed bound.
The 2021 Strictly Come Dancing contestant shared a selfie which shows one of his eyes drooping and, in a second snap, he wore sunglasses following the orders of medical professionals.
Tom wrote in his caption: ‘Sorry I’ve been quiet for a bit. I was wiped out with some sort of illness and in bed for a few days.
‘I just got back on my feet yesterday and uveitis decided to kick me down again.’

The All About You hitmaker added that he is ‘very grateful to have a dedicated eye A&E hospital in London.’.
‘It’s the 2nd time I’ve stumbled into that place holding my eyes and they’ve been amazing,’ he praised.
‘Also, shout out to my amazing optician, Dipesh at @parkerandhammond who was giving me advice at nearly midnight last night. Hero!’
On how his treatment is going, he concluded: ‘For now, it’s dark rooms, sunglasses and 6 weeks of steroids. Merry Christmas!’

Tom’s two million followers flooded the comments section with well wishes, hoping for him to ‘get better soon’.
‘Ouch- feel better soon ❤️’, wrote Lisa Snowdon.
‘I too have suffered with uveitis, not pleasant. Hope you’re back to full health soon’, added a fan.
‘Aww I get Uveitis…It’s so painful! Take care’, sympathised another.
According to the NHS, Uveitis is inflammation of the middle layer of the eye, called the uvea or uveal tract. It can cause eye pain and changes to your vision.
Fortunately, most cases get better with treatment – usually steroid medication.
