After recent events, Tom Holland undoubtedly wishes he’d done a bit of a social media purge. But, sadly, he did not. And now we’re here.
The 27-year-old Spider-Man hero was an adult at the same time that social media was founded. We all remember when Facebook status updates were a chaotic free-for-all and Twitter was more like a personal journal.
We had no idea these things would, um, stick. And little did Tom realise that his tiny X account – formerly Twitter – would one day have 7.2 million followers.
Some of these fans had a good time yesterday going back a decade to Tom’s early blogging days. What they discovered was priceless. Pure antique gold from 2012.
Enter Tom, a 16-year-old with a very, very, er… excellent sense of humour.
‘I’m a pirate arrrrrrr,’ he wrote, alongside a selfie of the Marvel superstar with a parrot on his shoulder. Don’t worry Tom, we’ve all been there. But this isn’t leaving our heads anytime soon.

Fans were loving the throwback and many put their own stamp on the picture, as one wrote: ‘Me when I don’t want to pay for a Netflix subscription just to watch 1 show.’
Another person said: ‘I‘ve thought about this tweet 3 times this week.’
This might be another gift for his Dune megastar girlfriend Zendaya, who turned 27 yesterday.

While the couple’s two-year affair is mostly kept private, Tom made an exception for the Euphoria actress’ special day.
Taking to social media, the Avengers actress couldn’t help but poke fun at Zendaya, sharing a humorous photo of her in a wetsuit with a big thumbs up.
‘My birthday girl,’ Tom commented beside the snap, with a heart eye emoji.
Despite the jokes, Tom followed up the image with another more affectionate photo of Zendaya on a park stroll, which he captioned with a few smiling, love-eyed emoji.
Karma is a cruel mistress, Tom…
