If Vin Diesel has his way, a new face might be joining the Fast and Furious franchise’s star-studded roster.
Vin Diesel first debuted as street racer Dominic Toretto in the now-classic The Fast and the Furious 20 years ago.
With Fast X set to hit theatres later this year and the last, as-yet-untitled installment officially confirmed, the Fast franchise is as strong as ever.
And what could possibly be lacking in such a popular franchise? It’s Robert Downey Jr., according to leading man Diesel.
At a red carpet event, the xXX star was asked by Variety who he would want to see join the cast for the last Fast film, to which Diesel replied “without hesitation.”
He also knew who his co-star will portray, revealing that in a future film, ‘there’s a character who is the antithesis of Dom, who’s supporting AI and autonomous vehicles and a belief that with that goes your freedom.’
‘There is someone who feels that’s the future, and it goes against the Toretto mentality,’ he continued.
When asked if he had contacted the actor about the job, Diesel shot it down, laughing, ‘How dare you ask me this question in front of all these people? ‘I am proud and dignified.’
It comes after DC actor Jason Momoa joined the case for the forthcoming Fast X, in which he plays a villain, which he described as ‘exciting’ because he hasn’t played the bad guy in a long time.

The Aquaman icon was spotted riding a motorbike around the streets of Rome last summer while filming sequences for the film, getting fans even more excited for the upcoming installment.
Meanwhile, Diesel said fans would be ‘quite stunned’ when the next film is out.
‘It might not necessarily be because of a certain place that we go, but there’s something special coming that I’m so excited about.
‘I can’t tell you, but I wish I could.’
Fast X will be released in May 2023, with Diesel, Charlize Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, and Jordana Brewster reprising their roles.
