Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall look to be getting into the Barbie spirit as Greta Gerwig’s Mattel doll film hits the country’s theatres.
The Royal couple married 12 years ago in a private ceremony at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, and they are marking the occasion by getting dressed up – but not in the way you would anticipate.
The 42-year-old niece of King Charles III and the former professional rugby player have been married since 2011, and they have three children: Mia, 9, Lena, 5, and Lucas, 2.
While the 44-year-old former England sports star has an amazing resume, so does his wife Zara, who is also a top professional eventer and Olympian.
Now, the equestrian prodigy and her hefty husband are honouring each other, rather than their sports accomplishments or royal ties. And they’re doing it in such a way that we admire them.
Taking to Instagram with a pretty iconic photo of him and Zara in Barbie doll form, Mike wrote: ‘Thanks for the messages, it’s been a great 12 years. Feel we are getting younger!!! 😂 #zarbieandTen.’
Zarbie looked set for equestrian action in some tight-fitting pants and a pink waistcoat, while Ten sported a smart white suit and shirt.
Okay, Zarbie and Ten are fairly iconic – and many others agreed in the comments area, with many flocking to voice their support for the plastic pair.
The world of rugby descended on the picture as ex-professional player Ben Foden ripped into his pal, as he said: ‘You wish you had that lid 😂😂😂,’
Meanwhile, recently retired former Scotland captain Stuart Hogg commented: ‘Maaaaaate, incredible 😍😍😍.’
F1 reporter Natalie Pinkham said: ‘Couple of absolute sorts 🔥🔥.’
Mike made waves by being the first royal to go on I’m A Celebrity… Last year, he finished fourth in the series, after former health minister Matt Hancock, Hollyoaks’ Owen Warner, and Queen of the Jungle, Lioness Jill Scott.
According to a Royal expert, King Charles ‘would back’ Zara if she ever wanted to audition for Strictly Come Dancing, following suggestions that she would be interested in the show due to her husband’s success on the show.
‘Zara coming on Strictly is not out of the question,’ said royal source Duncan Larcombe at the end of last year.
‘It would be a gamble, but I think if she were to say she wanted to do it, she’d have the full support of King Charles.’
