Timothée Chalamet’s chocolate-filled drama Wonka has received a beautiful new trailer, but not everyone is convinced.
In the Wonka teaser, a whimsical Timothée, 27, plays Willy Wonka, who rises to popularity in what looks to be a harsh confectionery world.
Beginning with a slightly unsettling tone, Wonka rapidly transitions into a unique and lovely world where chocolate is power and not readily obtained.
Matt Lucas, Keegan-Michael Key, Matt Baynton, and Rowan Atkinson all make appearances in the almost three-minute clip.
Hugh Grant also appears prominently in the second teaser after stirring controversy by playing an Oompa Loompa, a position normally portrayed by performers with dwarfism.
This is the third time Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has been adapted for the big screen, so there are high expectations for this appearance of the eccentric chocolatier.

Comparisons to Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp were unavoidable, but Kylie Jenner‘s reported lover has split opinion.
‘Nothing against Timothée, but I feel he’s more suitable for roles like dune and the king. That quirky silly character isn’t right for him,’ wrote one viewer.
‘Timothée Chalamet was such a miscast lol,’ criticised another who was shot down by someone else, who said: ‘No. He ate the role 🔥.’
‘Hugh Grant is great. Timothée kind of blah :(,’ a third said, while a fourth added: ‘Timothee first miss I’m afraid.’
However, many individuals said they couldn’t wait to watch the film, which is set to be released on December 15, 2023.
One excited viewer said: ‘Let’s goooooo 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.’

Because the picture is a precursor to the events of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Dune star and his co-stars will be able to explore a whole new plot.
It’s sparse synopsis reads: ‘The story will focus specifically on a young Willy Wonka and how he met the Oompa-Loompas on one of his earliest adventures.’
Director Paul King earlier said that a chocolatier was on location producing delectable delicacies for the cast to sample.
For a scene in which Wonka’s friend Noodle – played by Calah Lan – gets dunked in chocolate, the Paddington director revealed: ‘We actually made an enormous vat of hot chocolate – not scalding, just warm hot chocolate for them to immerse themselves in.
‘So there was a lot of chocolate around.’
Wonka hits UK cinemas on December 15, 2023.
