Britney Spears has given the strongest indication to date that she might make an appearance at Glastonbury this weekend.
Speculation has mounted that the ‘Toxic’ singer could be one of the special guests for Sir Elton John’s eagerly awaited headline show on Sunday evening. Recent events might have given us a substantial clue that it’s indeed on the cards.
Initially, it seemed that hopes of a memorable Britney performance were dashed as she and her husband Sam Asghari, 29, danced in the sun in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. However, it appears there is still a possibility.
The pop icon posted a cryptic Instagram image on Thursday evening featuring three Union Jack Flags and an image of a red apple seemingly carved in the form of England’s St. George flag.
Could this mean she’s ready to exchange her bikini for muddy boots?
Britney possibly foreshadowed her plans by revealing that she would be heading to London this week in a now-deleted Instagram post.
She claimed the trip was for shopping, but the timing seems suspicious – this could mean that the ‘Womaniser’ vocalist might share the stage with Sir Elton!
Last year, the two music icons collaborated on ‘Hold Me Closer,’ Britney’s first track since her 13-year-long conservatorship came to an end.
Sir Elton and his partner David Furnish have hinted at four possible surprise artists for the performance, stirring widespread speculation.
‘The choice of four collaborators was his own,’ David shared with Sky News’ Beth Rigby. ‘These are artists he simply thought, “I would like to perform with them at Glastonbury”, and that’s all I can share for now.’
When asked about the identity of these artists, Furnish responded, ‘Sorry, I am bound by a promise of silence.’
However, Furnish did disclose that Sir Elton’s highly remunerated headliner spot would be very different, noting it won’t be just another day of work as he plans to give his ongoing Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour an unusual twist.
‘The set list is unique – it’s a massive outdoor live festival. Four select artists will join him on the stage at varying times, I regret I can’t share their names,’ he said.
‘He’s made a lot of alterations. He’s a bit nervous, given the pressure on him. But it’s good and healthy kind of anticipation,’ he added.
