Adam Collard responds to ex Zara McDermott’s hysterical reaction to Love Island return: ‘I didn’t really expect it’

Love Island’s Adam Collard has responded to his ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott’s reaction to his explosive return to the villa.

Adam and Zara were coupled up on Love Island after a turbulent tide in the villa, but split shortly after their exit.

She is now in a relationship with Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson, who recently admitted he was disappointed in his girlfriend’s ex ‘failing to deliver’ the drama.

When Adam was confirmed as the new bombshell no one was more shocked that Zara, which was clear to see when Sam shared a video of her reaction to social media.

Adam and Paige Thorne were both dumped from Love Island last night after the public vote, and following their exit Adam praised his ex and was delighted by her positive reaction.

‘I’ve got to be honest, I didn’t really expect it to be that plain sailing with their reaction,’ he said.

‘I’ve got to give credit to Zara. We had some really good times and I’ve got really good memories from the time we were together.

‘It’ll be nice to break the ice – you never know we might end up meeting up with them. I think Sam’s definitely the right person for her and if they’re happy, I’m happy. I’m definitely happy here.’

However, after meeting Paige, Adam stressed he would never do a third stint on Love Island.

‘I’m not planning on doing Love Island again,’ he insisted. ‘Two experiences are enough for me. And I definitely don’t want to come back when I’m 30.

‘I want to be tucked up around some nice holiday resort with Paige.’

Tonight’s final will see Gemma Owen and Luca Bish, Ekin-su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti, Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack, as well as Andrew Le Page and Tasha Ghouri all go head to head to win the £50,000 cash prize.

Ekin-su and Davide are currently runaway favourites to win, and rightly so.

Love Island concludes tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
