Adam Thomas has claimed that he and his wife have already argued over Strictly Come Dancing.
The former Emmerdale star has been married to professional dance teacher Caroline since 2017, with whom he has two children, but he insists he has no edge on the BBC Latin and ballroom show.
‘No dance experience whatsoever, I have never danced before,’ he said when asked if he had any dancing experience.
He told The Sun: ‘She’s a dance teacher. But no, she’s not given me any tips. We literally had this argument the other day because I was like, “Why have you not taught me how to dance after all these years I’ve been with you?”
‘And she was like, “Well, you’ve never taught me how to act.’ I was like, “Yeah, very good point actually.” ‘
He claimed that the show is ‘definitely a first’ for him as he attempts to master the trade.
He added: ‘I have had no dance experience so this is definitely a first for me but again, I am excited to learn and get out there and do my thing.’
Adam has acknowledged that he could hardly walk shortly before Strictly rehearsals began, and he has stated that he is receiving medicine for his chronic health issue as he begins his “road to recovery.”
The father of two was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, an inflammatory autoimmune disorder that can impair mobility and interfere with his training.
Speaking ahead of taking to the ballroom, he said: ‘So far so good, I’m on really strong medication at the minute.’
‘It’s been tough, but I’m on the road to recovery,’ Adam added. ‘A couple of weeks ago, I couldn’t really walk, I couldn’t really do much.
‘So to get to this point that I’m at now, I’m just so happy. I just want to get on that dance floor, start moving, and I’m just happy to be here and to be able to do it.’
He admitted: ‘I don’t care how far I get, I’m just happy to be here.’
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday, September 16.
