Alison Hammond had to apologise to Tony Hudgell, a young fundraiser, for missing his recent excursion.
Tony, eight, told Alison, 48, on This Morning how sad he was that she didn’t show up to the Lake District to watch his big walk.
The boy walked up Orrest Head after being molested as a newborn by his biological parents, which resulted to his having his legs amputated after being brought to hospital with various organ failures, fractures, and infections when he was just one month old.
The little hero was conversing with Alison and Josie Gibson, 38, as well as his adoptive parents Paula and Mark, when he expressed his displeasure.
‘You needed you and you never came,’ he told Alison.
Alison apologised for not keeping her commitment and said she was filming The Great British Bake Off.
‘I do need to explain it to you. I was recording an episode of Bake Off and I couldn’t make it.’
‘Next time I’m going to try my best to be there. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there. I am disappointed in myself,’ she added.
‘I’m sure everyone is disappointed I wasn’t there but you did it. You did it on everyone’s behalf and I’m so proud of you.’
Alison told Tony at the end of the interview that the programme was sending £500 to his fundraising fund and asked if she was forgiven.
‘Yes,’ he replied.
He’s collected nearly £40,000 for charities like the Tony Hudgell Foundation, Crohn’s & Colitis UK, the Bendrigg Trust, and The Lake District Foundation, considerably exceeding his £500 goal. In total, Tony has raised approximately £1.8 million for charity.
Viewers reacted to the awkward exchange with one person writing on X, which was formerly known as Twitter: ‘YES TONY call her out 😂😂😂’.
‘Ha haaa haaaaa haaaaa brilliant. Totally called Alison out!’ added another.
One viewer scathed: ‘£500 to beg for forgiveness Alison? Not gonna cut it’.

Tony previously came on This Morning on his seventh birthday, and he had a cute reaction to the gifts he received.
Tony was startled to see the gifts and graciously replied, ‘I am surprised!’
He continued to study the gifts, including tickets to his beloved team Chelsea’s next Champions League game, assuring the hosts that he ‘100%’ wanted to see them play.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
