When Alison Hammond competed in The Masked Singer, she couldn’t stop herself from probing judge Mo Gilligan about his incorrect choices.
Alison sang her heart out during the I’m A Celebrity singing competition’s I’m A Celebrity special, in which she was revealed to be Witchetty Grub after bringing the house down with her fantastic cover of Moving On Up by the M People.
Mo, Rita Ora, Davina McCall, and Jonathan Ross returned as judges to try to guess which former I’m A Celebrity performers were behind the mask, with Vernon Kay winning as Koala.
Alison and her This Morning co-star Dermot O’Leary were debating whether they were skilled enough at singing to appear as a guest on Mo’s new programme, That’s My Jam, when Dermot reminded Alison: ‘But you did The Masked Singer, didn’t you?’
‘I did The Masked Singer,’ Alison said, before pointing to Mo and stating, ‘You actually believed I was Gemma Collins and Katie Price!’
‘No one predicted!’
As Mo tried to excuse himself, saying he was certain the secret star was someone he had met before, Alison laughed: ‘Was it the chubbiness?’
‘I thought you were going to know,’ she added to Mo, who praised: ‘You were good on it though’.
Alison continued: ‘I didn’t get to do my second one though, I was going to do a Bob Marley tune, I was proper gutted,’ recalling getting kicked out of the competition,
Alison claimed shortly after performing on the ITV show that it wasn’t as easy as it appeared, adding that she actually’struggled’ to breathe.
She said: ‘It was a cute character but I’m gonna be honmest with you, it was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever had to do. Mainly because if you look at the costume, there’s a head inside another glass head.
‘The amount of oxygen I had inside – it was like zero, I was really struggling. I had to literally play it down.
‘Those moves you saw me doing, that’s all I could do ’cause I just wasn’t physically capable to sing, be in those two heads and dance as well.’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
