We wouldn’t be surprised if Alison Hammond talked about a royal gaffe she made when she met Prince William and Kate Middleton and how she tried to make up.
The future monarchs of the nation were friends with the Queen of TV, who even had them over for supper and played darts with them while they were hanging out.
Having been on shows like Loose Women and I’m A Celebrity, the This Morning presenter is accustomed to hosting celebrities. Take Me Away From Here! as well as Strictly Come Dancing.
However, she failed to address genuine royalty by their right titles since she was so shocked when she first saw them.
The 48-year-old explained to co-host Dermot O’Leary: ‘I led [Prince William] down the stairs, holding his hand… and on the way down the stairs, I remember that I hadn’t done “Your Royal Highness” or bowed.
‘So then I bowed, awkwardly on the stairs, holding his hand!’
Alison protested that she didn’t refer to him as “babs,” but when she admitted her error, she made William ‘giddily’.
Before knowing she was on the VIP list, Alison first believed she wouldn’t even be able to invite the royals.
‘It was so embarrassing,’ she said, before feeling over the moon when they found her name on the VIP list.
‘I thought I was definitely going to have to do the walk of shame,’ she added.
They naturally found themselves ‘fighting’ for her after meeting the duo, to use Alison’s phrase.
The Big Brother contestant had brought Kate over for supper so she could treat her to some “spicy” food. Later, she extended a hand to William.
‘He was like, “yeah I’m definitely coming”, and then we went upstairs to take a photo, because I said I wanted a selfie, he was talking to Kate, going “Alison supports Aston Villa she’s my best friend, and she’s asked us to go to dinner,” and then Kate goes, “Yes I know she’s already asked me to go to dinner.”
‘So they’re like arguing over me!’

‘Next time dinner at my place ! I’ll let you know full story tomorrow on @thismorning 👑,’ she added.
Many of her friends had some questions, including Kate Lawler, who wrote: ‘WTAF YOU MET THE FUTURE KING AND QUEEN! Drop the mic.’
‘Now that’s what I call a selfie,’ Loose Women star Ruth Langsford added.
Will Taylor, an interior designer, made a joke about how he hoped the couple “curtsied to the queen,” a reference to Alison.
