Winter Love Island 2023 is lighting up our drab January with lovely new host Maya Jama – only a few episodes in and we’ve already seen tears, tension, and fallouts.
So far, we’ve seen a bombshell dropped, islanders rallying to break up a fight during a heated game of beer pong, and some major jealousy. Oh, and viewers are thrilled to see an islander in this week’s EastEnders. Plus, from the start, gorgeous teacher Kai Fagan had three females ‘going to war’ over him.
There’s plenty of difficulty in paradise! Especially near the fire pit. Which, to be honest, is exactly how we like it.
Ron Hall, a financial counsellor, has swivelled his head more times than The Exorcist. And do Olivia Hawkins and Zara Lackenby-Brown know each other in secret? Plus, we’re already sick of this year’s buzzword. Unreal.
So, which islanders have been married and remarried so far?
Here’s what we’ve seen so far, from the first pairings through the arrival of the bombshells and recoupling.
Launch Episode
Tanya Manhenga and Shaq Muhammed

Tanya Manhenga, 22, was the first female to enter the villa and chose to marry airport security guard Shaq Muhammed, 24, after he was the only one to go up for her.
After Tanya avoided his kiss in the series’ most cringeworthy sequence yet, the couple was the gift that kept on giving. Even though she professed to admiring the sight of bombshell Tom Clare, she eventually relented.
Anna-May Robey and Haris Namani

Anna-May Robey, 20, from Swansea, was the second person to enter the villa and decided to marry teacher Kai Fagan, 24, after he went up for her, along with Haris Namani and Ron Hall.
She was devastated when actress Olivia kidnapped Kai, leaving her with only farmer Will or Harris to choose from, and she chose to marry the boxer.
Lana Jenkins and Ron Hall

Will and Ron stepped forward to let Lana Jenkins, a 25-year-old make-up artist, in.
She chose Ron, a partially-sighted financial advisor, who stated he was ‘totally excited’ to be paired up with Lana. And they did look adorable together.
Olivia Hawkins and Will Young

Olivia Hawkins, 27, of Brighton, was fourth up, and both boxer Haris Namani, who recognised her, and farmer Will Young, 23, moved forward for her.
Olivia, on the other hand, didn’t hold back, rejecting both boys and scooping super-fit teacher Kai from Anna-May, who claimed she was ‘gutted’. The drama didn’t stop there; Kai moved on to the next female in line, Tanyel, who chose him, finally leaving Olivia and Will stranded with one other. Awks.
Tanyel Revan and Kai Fagan

Tanyel, a 26-year-old London-based make-up artist, raised feathers when Kai, who had just recently been snatched by Olivia, stood up for her, along with Haris and Will.
Tanyel picked Kai, who admitted to feeling ‘a little bit gassed’ after being pursued by three women.
First Bombshell Choice
Olivia Hawkins and Tom Clare

On day two, bombshell candidate Tom Clare, 23, who was voted for by the public, made a grand debut, approaching each girl one by one.
He admitted that he prefers blondes and that in a game where he had to snog the “three fittest girls,” he chose Lana, Olivia, and Tanyel. But he decided to start a relationship with brunette Olivia, snatching her from Haris, leaving farmer Will single and facing eviction.
Olivia, on the other hand, had previously assured Haris that even if Tom chose her, she was still interested.
First Recoupling
Anna-May Robey and Kai Fagan

Anna-May had been interested in Kai since the beginning, first dating him before Olivia took him and left her with boxer Haris.
So, when she had first pick of all the lads, including new bombshell David Salako, Anna-May rushed in to snag Kai. To be honest, he did appear to be relieved to be back with her.
She said she chose to recouple with him because ‘He’s had my eye since day one and I like listening to his little stories.’
Zara Lackenby-Brown and Tom Clare

Zara was up next, and she wasted no time in expressing her feelings for Kai. But, with him no longer available, she opted to marry the first bombshell, Tom.
‘He’s made me feel incredibly welcome,’ Zara said. ‘He’s made his feelings known and I can see us working on the outside.’
Olivia Hawkins and Haris Namani

Even before bombshell Tom kidnapped her, actress Olivia had informed Haris how much she liked him.
‘From the moment we met, there was attraction – and I like the fun and playful side he brings out in me,’ she says of her decision to recouple with the boxer.
Tanya Manhenga and Shaq Muhammed

Tanya and Shaq, who had been coupled together since the beginning, were looking a little shady. Tanya stated that ‘her head might turn’ after David’s arrival.
And there was Pong-gate, when a brawl broke out between Shaq and Haris after David kissed Tanya during the game and Haris inquired about it.
But Tanya decided to stick with Shaq, saying : ‘He’s told me he likes me and put all his eggs in one basket. It would be a shame to watch him go.’
Tanyel Revan and Ron Hall

Tanyel, the fifth in the recoupling, had her sights set on Kai and had flirted with Ron to make him jealous.
But when it came to recoupling, she had to choose between Will, Ron, and David. Tanyel picked Ron, saying: ‘I feel he’s charismatic, got banter, and I’d like to get to know him on a deeper level.’
Lana Jenkins and Will Young

Lana was in tears when Tanyel chose to recouple with Ron, as she’d been getting along well with him despite Ron’s growing feelings for bombshell Zara.
Lana selected Will over bombshell David when given the choice, remarking, ‘This decision is sh*t.’
This meant that David was the first person ousted from the villa.
