Amanda Abbington’s fiancé Jonathan Goodwin has published another mysterious message following the revelation of her reason for leaving Strictly Come Dancing.
Jonathan, a past finalist on Britain’s Got Talent, 43, hinted on Instagram Story that there was more ‘below the surface’ days after Amanda, 51, announced her departure from the BBC programme for ‘personal reasons.’
The retired escapologist posted a picture of an iceberg and a quote that read: ‘When you see an iceberg you could be forgiven for not realising just how much is below the surface.
‘The same is true of people. Don’t be quick to judge a person or situation if you don’t know what’s below the surface.’
Jonathan posted a similarly mysterious statement about being hard on ourselves only hours before the Sherlock actress’ exit from Strictly.
‘We can be so hard on ourselves… be our own worst critics… but before you judge yourself…’ he wrote.
The BBC confirmed Amanda’s departure from the ballroom dance competition on Monday evening, after she missing Saturday’s live broadcast due to “medical reasons.”
A Strictly spokesperson said: ‘Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future.’
Amanda finally addressed the matter on Tuesday morning, expressing ‘deep remorse’ over quitting the show in an Instagram message.
She described the pleasure of working with her other candidates as a “absolute joy,” praising the “incredible” production staff and “everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring.”
People were quick to point out that the Mr Selfridge star made no mention of her dance partner Giovanni Pernice, 33, reigniting claims of a ‘feud’ between the two.
In a statement announcing her departure from Strictly, Amanda’s agent dismissed any suggestion of the star’snubbing’ Giovanni.

They said of Amanda’s Instagram post: ‘She was inclusive of everyone involved in the show who helped make her appearance not only happen but a success.
She loved everybody on the programme and did not want to leave anyone out. She is extremely grateful and wishes she could have continued.
‘Health comes first always,’ they added.
Despite Amanda’s departure, the event is expected to continue as usual, with another star due to leave the dance floor this weekend.
This follows news that Jonathan is suing the makers of AGT: Extreme after a freak accident left him crippled while training for a stunt in which he would dangle upside down 30 feet in the air between two hanging automobiles and escape from a straitjacket.
The vehicles, however, were freed too soon, and he was crushed between them as they took fire.
After his life-altering injuries, the former escapologist resigned as a stunt performer and now utilises his platform to provide wisdom and ‘positive thinking.’
Amanda and Jonathan married in 2021, nine months after she announced her breakup from actor Jonjo O’Neill after four years together.
The actress was formerly married to Martin Freeman from The Hobbit for 16 years, and they had two children, Joe, 15, and Grace, 12.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
