America’s Got Talent crowned dance group Mayyas the winners of season 17 in Wednesday night’s grand finale.
After 22 episodes and numerous performances, the final 11 acts were tasked with giving their last hurrah of the competition for judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara.
And it was the Mayyas who came on top – and unsurprisingly they were lost for words.
The all-female Lebanese troupe, who secured judge Sofia’s Golden Buzzer, scooped the $1million (£866,765) prize and will perform at the programme’s live Las Vegas show.
Celebrating their victory on social media after the episode alongside a photo of the action, they wrote: ‘We did IT. Lebanon, this one’s for you 🇱🇧❤️.’

Mayyas was founded by choreographer Nadim Cherfan and the group consists of 36 Lebanese women of different ages. Together, they strive to promote female empowerment.
‘From the moment I first saw the Mayyas, their act was spectacular and gave me goosebumps,’ Sofia enthused.

‘Their coordinated choreography was the most beautiful, creative dancing I have ever seen. Each time they competed, they continued to outdo themselves.
‘Their empowering performances have earned them the ultimate title and I’m so proud of them and can’t wait to see what they do next.’
America’s Got Talent saw the final 11 acts take to the stage for one last performance, with special appearances from the Black Eyed Peas, country music artists Darius Rucker and Jon Pardi, musician Trombone Shorty, and previous winners Terry Fator, Darci Lynne and Shin Lim.
America’s Got Talent airs on NBC in the US.
