Amy Dowden has voiced her grief after learning she had a shock injury shortly after finishing her breast cancer chemotherapy.
The Strictly Come Dancing star confessed in an Instagram post that she had to wear a medical boot after breaking her foot.
While the 33-year-old had hoped to join her fellow pros on the dancefloor this series after being unable to compete, she has since said that this will not be feasible.
‘Not the week I was hoping for since finishing chemo. Port out but unfortunately gained a boot for a fractured foot. 💔,’ she wrote in her caption.
‘Absolutely gutted and heartbroken as this means the plans for me to dance in the Strictly Ballroom this year are no longer possible. This is what has kept me going the past few months.
‘2023 is certainly not my year, roll on 2024 I say!’

Amy has been on Strictly numerous times this year, assisting presenter Claudia Winkleman in reading out the terms and conditions for fans at home before voting began.
It has not been revealed how she intended to join her fellow pros on the dancefloor, whether a special dance had been planned at some time during the series or even for the Christmas special.
Following her most recent health update, she received an outpouring of love and support from fans and friends alike.
‘Oh no! Well in that case 2024 could not be coming sooner! 🙏🏼✨,’ commented former pro Janette Manrara.

‘Next year you are due 2-3 postcode lottery wins and a surprise discovery of a missing Picasso in your loft,’ Ted Lasso star Ellie Taylor.
Dianne Buswell, who has a very close friendship with Amy, wrote that ‘next year is yours’, adding: ‘Thinking of ya my Amy xxx.’
Mr Selfridge star Amanda Abbington, who withdrew from this year’s series, penned: ‘Sending you the most love!!! Rest up beautiful girl.’
Amy disclosed earlier this year that she had breast cancer and had a mastectomy in July.
After doctors detected new cancers, the dancer underwent chemotherapy, and she rang the bell to signify the end of her treatment this month.
