When Andor debuted on Disney Plus last year, Star Wars fans all across the world were taken away by the dramatic tale and performances.
While audiences might have easily spent many more years watching the fantastic story, it has already been established that season 2 would conclude with Diego Luna’s main character Cassian Andor up to the events of the 2016 film Rogue One.
After the dramatic, heartbreaking end of the first season, the lead actor has spoken out about his feelings about the final set of episodes, which are presently in production.
The 43-year-old explained why he felt it was more necessary for the show to end after two seasons rather than continue for many more.
‘This is the last season for Andor,’ he told Variety.
‘It is just a two-season show, which is really important for my mental health. But knowing this is the end, I want to enjoy it and get the best out of this experience.’
Season two of Andor began filming late last year, and it sounds like a high-octane journey.
During production, Diego stated that ‘there’s no time for the hangover,’ adding, ‘You wake up the following morning and there’s always something to do.’
Prior to the show’s premiere, the actor discussed the importance of his role, linking the series’ plot to real-life situations.
‘I think about the relation between Latin America and the States and that huge border that separates Mexico from the States,’ the Mexican actor said for StarWars.com.
‘That energy is going to be represented in Cassian’s journey. The strength of community – that’s what this story is about! It’s about people that, by themselves, they can’t do anything. They don’t have Jedi powers. They’re just regular people.’
He added that people ‘find their strength’ when they come together, stating: ‘That to me is a beautiful thing to say today when communities need to step up.
‘We seem to be so alienated from each other that we have to go back to find out… What’s going to save you, you know? I think that message is beautiful to send and this series is sending it. It has a connection with the world out there.’
Andor is available to watch on Disney Plus.
