Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly couldn’t help themselves from making a cheeky dig at Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! presenters had been commenting on Matt Hancock’s controversial arrival into the jungle, alongside comedian Seann Walsh.
The arrival of the disgraced former health secretary – who lost the Tory whip for agreeing to appear – has been highly controversial, and Ant and Dec have been teasing it all week.
After his arrival in the jungle today, Ant said: ‘I’m not sure how Matt’s going to cope in camp though, surrounded by people who don’t know what they’re doing, making it up as they go along and just trying to get by day to day.’
Dec chimed in: ‘Evening Prime Minister, you know how that feels don’t you!’
He then added: ‘By the way, who am I talking to there, is it still Rishi? Is it still him?’
Ant replied: ‘I think so, but they’re probably due a new one before Christmas!’
‘Probably,’ Dec agreed.
Earlier in the episode, the Geordie duo poked fun at Westminster, enacting a mock news briefing in which they said: ‘Hello! Good evening, good morning and welcome to Australia on a day of massive news.
‘Here are the headlines: Comedian Seann Walsh and former health secretary Matt Hancock have entered the I’m A Celebrity jungle.
‘Eye witnesses claim Walsh and Hancock have been spotted taking part in the Bushtucker Trial.
‘And in breaking news, Westminster sources confirm Sir Keir Starmer has just downloaded the I’m A Celebrity app.’
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV.
