Ant McPartlin struck the deck (deck/Dec, get it? ), kicking off the 2023 Britain’s Got Talent live semi-finals.
There was a surprise cameo from some BGT stalwarts as judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli visited the studio in a genuinely big musical piece to start off the live episodes.
Diversity, who won in 2009, sauntered out to applause from the audience and did a really amazing street dance piece to kick off the week in style.
Ant, on the other hand, seemed to have gotten a bit too enthusiastic as he attempted to join in on the fun.
As a result, he landed on his bum.
Oops!
The camera cut to a wide shot just as the slip happened, but it was clear he hit the stage very hard!
Luckily, the Geordie star took it on the chin and laughed off the blunder, telling co-host Declan Donnelly: ‘I just wet myself and farted at the same time!’
As the audience erupted into laughter, Dec added: ‘I can confirm, he did fart!’
Diversity star Ashley Banjo was also on hand to help Ant recuperate.
Ant then attempted to brush off his awkward moment, but the panel was not so eager to forgive him.
Alesha quipped that she wishes she could rewind time and watch it again (which we will do).
Then Amanda asked if Ant’s coccyx is ok, to which he said: ‘I’ll tell you later.’
Simon was also in stitches, as he quipped: ‘That was the best line ever to open a show, “I’ve just wet myself and farted at the same time”.’
Ant then quipped that it was just up Simon’s alley in terms of comedy.
Throughout the evening, the Saturday Night Takeaway host made jokes about his catastrophic fall.
After kid artists United 2 Dance finished their performance to a standing ovation and effusive acclaim from the judges, Ant said, ‘They didn’t fall over! They were steady on their feet!’
Dec, his co-host, wasn’t ready to let it go either, replaying the tape in slow motion and close-up after the ad break.
Isn’t that what friends are for?
Poor Ant! @antanddec @BGT
That looked sore! Even if I did giggle!

Naturally, the whole thing had viewers at home in fits of laughter too.
‘Ahahahhaa Ant man what a start’, one viewer tweeted.
‘Well ant knows how to make an entrance’, another joked.
‘The whole country is now watching #BGT a minute behind because I know EVERYONE has just hit rewind to see Ant fall over again’, one viewer tweeted.
‘Ice pack for Ant please! (And a mop for the stage if he wet himself’, another said.
The Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals continue all this week on ITV1 and ITVX.
