Ant and Dec have opened up about their’surreal’ stay in the room next to King Charles, proving that real life can be stranger than fiction.
While speaking to Good Morning Britain at the coronation, the I’m A Celebrity hosts stated that they had been invited to the British monarch’s Scottish palace Dumfries House.
Dec, 47, was surprised to find that they would be kipping in the room exactly next door to Charles’ bedroom, having previously imagined ‘we’d be in a wing way down the end of the estate.’
‘We were literally in the next-door bedroom which meant we had to keep the noise down a bit,’ Dec said while turning red.
‘Not that we’re noisy,’ he stressed immediately while chuckling.
Ant, 47, then revealed that he exited the room, prompting Dec to enter and shout, ‘You had an encounter with him on the stairs!’

Ant continued: ‘And I walked out of the door as I thought it’s not like I’m going to bump into him but he was there with a pair of secateurs. And I was like, “Hi,” and he was like, “Hi.”
‘And then he goes, “It’s always best if one prunes the roses oneself, don’t you find?” And I went, “Absolutely.”’
‘We had no idea we were going to be next door so that was quite a surreal night,’ Dec remarked in what might be the understatement of the century.

Previously, the presenters collaborated with King Charles’ Prince’s Trust for Making it in Media, a new programme aimed at giving young people from all walks of life a footing in the television business.
Charles even appeared on The One Show to congratulate them for their efforts, as hosts Alex Jones and Ronan Keating looked on.
‘I could think of no better duo to help drive this activity than Ant and Dec, who have enjoyed an illustrious career in the media for over 30 years,’ he said.
Stephen Fry, Dame Emma Thompson, and Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber are among the other notable visitors at the coronation.
