During the concluding installment of the pair’s Italian travelogue series, Anton Du Beke was not pleased with Giovanni Pernice’s boudoir apparel.
The Strictly Come Dancing cast members joined up for a three-part programme named Anton and Giovanni’s Adventures in Sicily, which took the professional dancer’s home country by surprise.
Giovanni pressed Anton’s buttons in Tuesday night’s episode by showing fans his birthplace and inviting the pair to incorporate themselves into the lives of local priests.
They pitched up to the abbey and learned about life within the old walls, as well as participating in religious services and menial tasks around the grounds.
When 9 p.m. rolled around, the renowned faces were led to their chamber, which they would share until the next morning.
Giovanni irritated his companion by stripping down to his pants in preparation for sleep, blaming him for not carrying suitable clothing for their stay at the religious refuge.
The star yelled across the Strictly judge and inquired if he wanted a wakeup call, to which Anton replied, ‘I’ll wake you up, I don’t want you coming anywhere near me in those,’ referring to his scarcely there boxers.
Viewers online didn’t miss a beat in commenting on the star’s choice of sleepwear with one penning: ‘Now THAT is a small pair of Calvin Klein’s #AntonAndGiovanni #adventuresinsicily [sic]’.
The dynamic pair visited Giovanni’s family and met his parents for a heartfelt reconciliation in the mini-series’ concluding episode.
During the episode, the Italian singer shared details about his childhood in Sicily and confessed that it wasn’t always easy for him because his father didn’t originally approve of his dancing.
He said: ‘Mum pushed me to dance, Dad was like: “Go and play football”.
‘But now he became my number one fan, we’ve come along way, it wasn’t like that in the beginning.
‘You want to please your family, you want your dad to be happy about your job, your mum to be proud of what you’ve done. It’s beautiful to watch all this happiness around me and who I’ve become’.
Anton and Giovanni’s Adventures in Sicily is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
