When it comes to RuPaul’s Drag Race, there’s never a shortage of dramatic surprises, but Ariana Grande managed to stun with a huge entrance.
The pop star appeared on the show’s season 15 premiere this week, and she chose to surprise the Queens on her way in.
Ariana, 29, entered the Werk Room dressed in an attire topped off with a made-up wig head, identical to the one Vivacious wore for her debut back in season 6.
The eight queens who were present (Irene Dubois, Luxx Noir London, Aura Mayari, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, Anetra, Princess Poppy, and Sasha Colby) were naturally taken aback.
While they were persuaded that they were seeing Ornacia (and, by extension, Vivacious), they were visibly taken aback when Ariana appeared.
When they realised she was behind the costume, kids burst out laughing and squealing, to which she simply winked, smiled, and said, ‘Mother has arrived.’

Ariana informed the Queens that drag was “the most contagious and happy art form there is” before joining the panel as a guest judge with Vivacious, who subsequently appeared as well.
‘Thank you guys for bringing so much joy to the lives of the Drag Race fans and to everyone.’
Luxx then thanked Ariana for her song Break Free.
Fans watching along at home loved the reveal, with one person writing: ‘Ariana Grande’s entrance on Drag Race is all I’ll be talking about this week’.

Later in the show, Ariana reflected on her first participation as a guest judge, which took place in season 7 in 2015.
She discussed how she appeared just as she was transitioning from a popular Nickelodeon actor to a global pop phenomenon.
‘The last time I was here I had just come from shooting the Bang Bang video the night before, and I was so drained,’ she shared.
‘It was just such an overwhelming time in my life and I felt like I wasn’t really fully present for it.
‘Remember to take care of yourself and be present, because it’s such an amazing moment and all of your lives are changing for good, forever.’
The episode eventually included eight new queens (Amethyst, Salina EsTitties, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Sugar, Spice, Robin Fierce, Loosey LaDuca, and Jax), as well as the original Vivacious and Ornacia.
Previously clarifying Ornacia’s beginnings, Vivacious purchased the wig stand over two decades ago and called her after a line from RuPaul’s 1993 song Back to My Roots.
RuPaul’s Drag Race is streaming on WOW Presents Plus.
