Babatunde Aleshe’s wife Leonie has thrown her support behind her husband after he pulled out of the first I’m A Celebrity… Get me Out of Here! challenge.
The comedian’s start to I’m A Celebrity hasn’t been easy, with the very first trial challenging him to walk a plank suspended over a 32-storey building.
After he couldn’t complete that task, the public voted for him to compete in Tuesday’s Horrifying Heights trial, but he stuck it out and picked up plenty of fans in the process.
Now his wife has said that despite the initial setback, not much will be able to stop him.
‘You know what he didn’t mention it at the beginning that he is scared of heights and then the public discovering it, they thought “oh yes, let’s go for that then”,’ Leonie said on Lorraine on Wednesday
‘He is quite headstrong and once he decides to do something he does it but I don’t think he was ready to be on the edge of a building [at the start].
‘In the jungle, yes, but not on a building, but he’s doing well.’
However she did say a lack of food might prove a problem though.
‘That’s the thing you look forward to most [in the jungle] and he’s a really big snacker so he will really miss it,’ she said.
‘I think he’s going to come back really ripped from all the snacks he hasn’t been eating.’
But she added that she was ‘really proud of his dad bod’ that was on show in the jungle shower.
After Babatunde chatted to campmates about his first date with his wife, Leonie also revealed that their Nandos dinner was actually quite a treat.
‘We didn’t have much money so Nandos was quite up there and we did sit in,’ she said.
‘He was really stern on the first date and I thought this was going to be fun and exciting but he was laying down all these rules, but we absolutely just fell in love within like seven days.’
The jungle is about to get a shake-up with two new additions on Wednesday, with Matt Hancock and Seann Walsh set to join the camp.
But before they do so, they have to overcome the Beastly Burrows trial, which sees them trudging through a tunnel in the dark while covered in slurry and bugs.
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV. I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! continues on Wednesday at 9pm on ITV.
