The new series of The Great British Bake Off is currently in full swing, and we’re loving every minute of it as the programme returns to its former glory.
So far, we’ve seen some incredible cake and bread creations, Hollywood handshakes, innuendo aplenty, and, of course, new co-host Alison Hammond making herself at home in the tent.
We’ve also lost three bakers, with Amos, Keith, and Abbi all failing at the first hurdle, leaving only nine hopefuls to compete for the championship.
But, despite the fact that last week’s episode promised chocolate week, there’s no indication of it in its normal Tuesday night slot.
Why isn’t the programme on tonight, and when will the next installment be?
Why is The Great British Bake Off not on tonight?
The solution is simple: our normal Tuesday night dose of Bake Off has been rescheduled to make room for live football.
In other words, England will trade the tent for the pitch at Wembley Stadium in the latest of their UEFA Euro 2024 Group C qualification matches against Italy.
The game begins at 7.45 p.m. on Channel 4, with live coverage beginning at 7 p.m.
It goes till 10.15pm, so in addition to Bake Off, you won’t see the current episode of Don’t Look Down For Stand Up To Cancer, which moved into the post-Bake Off slot last week at 9.15pm.
England will be aiming for another victory over their opponents after winning the reverse encounter 2-1 in March in Naples with to first-half goals from Declan Rice and Harry Kane.
A win on Tuesday night will ensure qualifying for the Euro 2024 tournament next summer, therefore all eyes will be on Gareth Southgate’s team.
When is The Great British Bake Off back?
The good news is that Bake Off viewers won’t have to wait long for the next episode, which will air on Wednesday night at 8pm, ahead of Don’t Look Down at 9.15pm.
Because the last 15 minutes of the show will overlap with Celebrity Race Across the World on BBC One and Big Brother on ITV2, you’ll have to schedule your viewing properly if you watch one or more of the aforementioned.
This week, the bakers will face a difficult torte in the Signature challenge, followed by a cheesecake technical and a chocolate box showstopper in their attempt to wow the judges.
At the end, we’ll have to bid farewell to another of their number, as well as see whether anybody can unseat Tasha as Star Baker after she won it two weeks in a row.
