Gareth Gates proved himself to be the king of fans’ hearts following his well-deserved triumph on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins by revealing just how much it cost him.
The singer was the only celebrity face to make it to the final of the military-style series this year, joining former health minister Matt Hancock, TV personality Danielle Lloyd, Olympic track and field athlete Perri Shakes-Drayton and Love Island star Teddy Soares.
He was, however, the only contender to whom the directorial staff chose to give a pass after he pushed himself to his limits for the programme.
We now know what it looks like because the 39-year-old released a video of himself immediately following his victory, looking very exhausted.
In fact, as the former Pop Idol contestant said, he was unable to walk after finishing the course, so he had to celebrate on his hands and knees.
He took to Instagram on Monday to broadcast a video of himself crawling in a hotel corridor immediately after being proclaimed the series’ victor.
‘The winner of SAS…,’ he began breathlessly, as he crawled along the corridor carefully.
As he smiled and laughed as he was praised with being the ‘one and only’, he added: ‘And I can’t walk! What’s going on?’
‘The victory walk… well, crawl !’ he wrote in the caption.
‘This was me moments after completing the @sas_whodareswins course; I literally couldn’t walk! 😩’

Fans, on the other hand, lauded him for his performance on the show.
‘Oh bless you @gareth_gates you 100% deserved to win that show and you were amazing,’ replied one follower. ‘Loved seeing you every week on the TV even if it was a hard watch at times.’
‘Massive congratulations Gareth, was rooting for you from the first episode. Well deserved,’ wrote another.
‘What an outstanding performance you gave. You fully deserved that title, working harder than anyone else,’ commented someone else.
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins is available to stream now on Channel 4’s catch-up service.
